On Tuesday four local conductors and many auditors had the opportunity to learn from the incomparable Lydia Adams and The Elmer Iseler Singers. They will continue their music making in Halifax on Sunday October 25th in concert at Grace United.

This Evening at 7:00!

Join us for an evening of learning, collaboration, and inspiration, tailored for both aspiring and seasoned choral musicians. Whether you’re looking to refine your technique, explore new repertoire, or simply be inspired, this is your chance to experience the energy and artistry of top-level choral music up close. Four podium opportunities are available for conductors to work with members of Juno-award winning Elmer Iseler Singers. Lydia Adams (Artistic Director, Elmer Iseler Singers) and Joel Tranquilla (Artistic Director, Halifax Camerata Singers) will guide the session and provide feedback on conducting gesture and rehearsal technique.

Auditors are welcome to attend the workshop to observe the work done with our four conductors to learn about gesture, connection, and building rapport with the choir and audiences.

Auditor Fee - $20 ($10 for Nova Scotia Choral Federation members)
Conductor Fee - $100

Camerata presents: the Elmer Iseler Singers

The JUNO Award winning Elmer Iseler Singers (EIS), conducted by artistic director Lydia Adams since 1998, is singing its 48th Concert Season in 2026/27. This 20-voice professional choral ensemble, founded by the late Dr. Elmer Iseler in 1979, has thrilled audiences internationally, and led the way in developing exciting new choral works and experiences, building a stellar reputation in Canada, the United States and abroad, performing a wide range of repertoire with a focus on Canadian composers.

Camerata is thrilled to host the Elmer Iselers at a special concert this October as they sing some of their choral highlights with Halifax audiences.

We had a lovely afternoon this weekend rehearsing with Gibson MacMillan, singing with the organ and preparing for tonight’s concert.

The concert tonight will start at 7pm, at the Cathedral Church of All Saints (1330 Cathedral Ln)

Entrance by freewill donation, all proceeds will be donated to the Nova Scotia Choral Federation.

Light of Lights -A Choral Fundraiser

Join us for an evening of choral music as the singers of Halifax Camerata and the Symphony Nova Scotia Chorus come together in support of the Nova Scotia Choral Federation.

Recent funding reductions have had a direct impact on choral music across the province—affecting community choirs, youth programs, and opportunities for singers of all ages. This concert is both a celebration and a call to action. Through music, we aim to support the continued vitality of choral singing in Nova Scotia.

The program will centre on the Kodaly setting of the Missa Brevis, which interprets the sacred text through modal harmony and folksong-inspired melodies, coupled with a lyrical romanticism.

Admission is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis with all proceeds supporting the work of the Nova Scotia Choral Federation.
