Our three choirs, Polairs, Spira, and Eastern Horizon, are collectives of singers and activists seeking to support social change movements through innovative choral events. Polaris maintains a busy schedule, dedicating its time t

o performing at a finely-tuned musical ability, as well as learning and engagement with topics of relating to social change. Polaris is geared towards singers and activists who have experience with social justice and/or music. Spíra
Spíra is a drop-in, all ages community choir, active during the summer months. The group meets outdoors on Monday evenings and is characterized by a relaxed atmosphere. There are no auditions, and no musical experience is necessary to participate. Spíra is a choir perfectly suited for folks who are looking for a chance to sing and to develop their music skills, to build community, and offers more flexibility than is generally given in choirs. It is a fulfilling recreational experience for singers of all abilities.

Eastern Horizon
Eastern Horizon is an intensive and high-level choral ensemble created in tandem with the Eastern Horizon choral writing competition, a program that celebrates the works of composers from communities underrepresented in the choral canon. In their annual concert, Eastern Horizon performs pieces by the competition’s finalists, as well as pieces by other composers of underrepresented identities. Choirs for Change is grateful to be supported by a large number of individuals. It is also especially grateful for the support by St. Andrew's United Church and the Fountain School of Performing Arts for providing rehearsal space to our choirs.

What carries gentle music far and wide?

Reverb was an experiment in what it means to be a choral concert. In what it sounds like to sing in a wide, open space. In what it feels like to collaborate beyond one choir.

To all our wonderful audience members who trusted the process and walked around Discovery Centre from exhibit to exhibit and song to song: The evening was full of energy and excitement thanks to you!

Extra special thanks to MJ Photographics for capturing the evening’s fun 📸
