The AMFS's Aspen Contemporary Ensemble (ACE) functions as the ensemble-in-collaboration with the Susan and Ford Schumann Center for Composition Studies and performs music by prominent living composers and twentieth-century classics, as well as new works by the Festival’s student composers.

Led by conductors Timothy Weiss and Donald Crockett, the 2027 ACE ensemble will feature two violins, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, percussion and piano. All students also receive fellowships.

The AMFS's Susan and Ford Schumann Center for Composition Studies offers an unparalleled opportunity for an exchange of ideas with some of the world’s foremost composers and performers of new music. Our composers work intimately with AMFS's composer-in-residence Christopher Theofanidis, guest composers, composition faculty, as well as Aspen’s own Music Director Robert Spano, an active composer.

Happy !

We are so grateful to have our ground-breaking Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS (AOTVA) program, under the co-artistic direction of Renee Fleming and Patrick Summers.

The program offers a uniquely complete training for young singers for a future in the opera and classical music industry. Our opera program is also fully funded, with our AOTVA singers receiving fellowships, including tuition, room, board, and more!

2027 productions will include The Hours by Kevin Puts and Carmen by Georges Bizet. We already can't wait for their performances next summer!

The AMFS's Aspen Conducting Academy (ACA), led by Wall Family Music Director Robert Spano, gives emerging conductors an intensive conducting training with a skilled orchestra, assists them in gaining podium experience, and supports each individual’s development as a conductor.

The Academy brings to each participant the national attention that is critical to establishing a career. All conductors also receive fellowships. Applications are due November 15. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/2027-aca

Just Announced! Full Fellowships for all Solo Piano Students 🎹

We’re immensely proud to announce that starting in 2027, all solo piano students will receive a full fellowship covering 100% of tuition, room, and board.

Thanks to a transformative $11 million endowment gift from the Paulson Family Foundation establishing the Paulson Center for Piano Studies, these fellowships will be offered in perpetuity.

Yoheved (Veda) Kaplinsky’s faculty position will be endowed in perpetuity as the Veda Kaplinsky Piano Faculty Chair.

The AMFS's Collaborative Piano program provides training for exceptional pianists who are committed to the collaborative arts, or are considering a career in this area. Led by director Cameron Stowe, the program includes weekly individual coachings, studio classes, and seminars with the our Artist-Faculty as well as visiting guest artists. All students also receive fellowships!

The deadline to submit an application is October 15 (next Thursday!) for Opera Coaching, and December 15 for Instrumental-Vocal Collaboration and Orchestral Piano. Learn more and apply here: https://bit.ly/2027-collaborative-piano
