Match for the Movies is officially underway! Thanks to several generous Aspen Film members and donors, every dollar donated now through October 4 will be matched dollar for dollar.

That means your gift goes twice as far in supporting year-round programming, education initiatives, festival experiences, filmmaker conversations, and more throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.

Movie Night is coming to JAS Community Night!

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1, at the Paul JAS Center for a special Community Night in collaboration with Aspen Film, featuring a screening of Whiplash. A short trivia will take place as well. Read more for a hint ;)

Set inside the intense world of jazz, the Academy Award-winning film follows an ambitious young drummer and the demanding instructor who pushes him to his limits. It’s the perfect film for a night dedicated to music, movies, and community.

Come grab a bite and a drink, settle in, and enjoy Whiplash on the big screen in downtown Aspen.

TRIVIA (psst, psst, remember this!)
The director and writer of the film, Damien Chazelle, could not get funding for the movie, so he instead turned it into a short film which screened at Aspen Shortsfest in 2013. The feature-length film was shown at Aspen Filmfest as the festival’s Surprise Screening the following year.

🏆 BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND

Winner of the 2025 Aspen Filmfest Audience Award, SHE RUNS THE WORLD returns to Aspen Film for our September Indie Showcase.

The film follows Allyson Felix, the most decorated Olympic track and field athlete in history, as she risks everything to stand up for what she knows is right — ultimately turning her personal and professional battles into a movement that forced a billion-dollar industry to change.
Featuring never-before-seen archival footage, SHE RUNS THE WORLD is a powerful story of courage, conviction, and the impact one person can make by staying true to their values.
