As always, it’s really wild to see my maps in use, printed large within the landscape they illustrate. It’s a weird disconnect for me - such a leap from the hours and hours in my studio to a large, printed map. It’s a great feeling knowing that people use them to navigate such a beautiful landscape. Can’t wait to work on the next project with Big Sky Resort—stay tuned!

I finally got the chance to ride Big Sky’s new Lone Peak Tram—it’s an engineering and architectural wonder! The Kircliff glass observatory perched on the peak is unreal. Walking out on the thick glass floor—thousands of feet up—is a unique experience that feels like defying gravity.

Visiting Big Sky Resort was so wonderful this weekend! My wife Mandy joined me and we made a day of riding the new Explorer gondola, the Lone Peak Tram and then hiking around and down. Now I’m not sure which season I prefer on Lone Peak, winter or summer! The place is spectacular any season of the year, with so much to do for anyone that wants to enjoy and explore the area. We’ll be taking our mountain bikes next time…

Happy little trees. I’m perfecting my process for creating deep shadows and gradations of shadow on the snowy boughs. These trees are a little bigger than what I typically work with for a terrain map and this has been an interesting piece of this particular map puzzle.
