IN ONE WEEK catch Lil-Red Velvet: Into the Woods, directed and choreographed by Ruka White, Boston Dancemakers Resident 🌹🔥

Lil-Red Velvet: Into the Woods is a seductive, high-octane reimagining of the classic tale—part cabaret, part immersive theatre, all attitude. Follow Lil-Red Velvet, a bold, quick-witted hero who struts through a world of drag divas, forest nymphs, voguing wolves, and a dangerously irresistible Huntsman. Blending dance, burlesque, live vocals, pole artistry, and razor-sharp humor, the show pulls audiences into a lush, provocative universe where desire, power, and play collide. Step into the woods… and don’t expect to come out the same.

VIBE CHECK: BCA OPEN STUDIOS 😎🪭

Thank you to everyone who came out and made BCA Open Studios such a memorable event earlier this month. This year marked our largest Open Studios yet, with more than 30 resident artists welcoming visitors into their creative spaces and over 200 guests in attendance. The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a rare opportunity to experience the artists and their work up close in the place they create.

We’re truly grateful for the energy and support you brought to our community. It was a beautiful way to welcome the spring season and to celebrate the opening of ATTACHÉ: A BCA Artist Studios Building Group Show, now on view in the Mills Gallery through July 11, 2026.

We are excited to announce our 2026-2027 Playwright Residents: Angelique Motunrayo Folasade Àyìnkẹ́ C-Dina and Catherine Giorgetti. 📜✨

🎭 Angelique is a first-generation Afro-Indigenous theatrical storyteller and Black feminist joy enthusiast based in New England. Her project is “an extension of my dissertation, where I explore different performance modalities and gestures of collective care in free-liminal spaces that center the stories of Black women and femmes and make space for us to explore how we arrive at our joy! This project is grounded in the wisdom of my ancestors, Black feminist artists and scholars, and real testimonies from myself and communities of Black women and femmes across New England and beyond ”

🎭 Catherine is playwright, actor, dramaturg, educator, and arts administrator. Her project builds off of her research for Choose & Celebrate, a previous playwriting project Inspired by Gay Community News from 1983-84. She will examine: “How did Boston’s q***r community change and grow in the 10 years between the plays? There was an office fire in 1984, how did that affect the paper? How were AIDS and AIDS activism present in Boston’s gay liberation movement? And so many more questions.”

The BCA Playwright Residency supports rising playwrights by providing space to write, rehearse, and workshop a new work. Head to bostonarts.org for more information.
