Happy Pride Weekend, Boston! At SpeakEasy, we believe everyone deserves to love openly, live authentically, and feel celebrated all year long.
Pride reminds us of the power of gathering: of choosing to come together in shared spaces to celebrate who we are, imagine who we may become, and find one another through joy and discovery. As q***r rights continue to face challenges, celebrating LGBTQIA+ joy, strength, and love is more important than ever. We are honored to stand with our LGBTQIA+ friends, family, and community

Next up in our season art reveal…🌌

Little Bear Ridge Road by Samuel D. Hunter
Directed by Bryn Boice

On the outskirts of a small Idaho town, an estranged aunt and nephew find themselves sharing a house after a sudden loss. She’s blunt, guarded, and set in her routines. He’s grieving, adrift, and not sure why he came back.
As they sort through a lifetime of things left behind, conversation comes slowly. Then all at once. What emerges isn’t resolution but it’s real and it’s what they need.

This 2026 Tony Nominee for Best Play is a spare, quietly funny play about grief, distance, and the uneasy work of letting another person in.

Last night we had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Elliot Norton Awards with the greater Boston theater community and receive two outstanding honors for Jaja’s African Hair Braiding!

This year also brought a meaningful recognition for SpeakEasy’s own Jim Torres, Director of Press Relations, who received an Elliot Norton Awards Special Citation for his decades of service to Boston theatre.

These awards recognize more than exceptional artistry. They celebrate collaboration, trust, and the collective effort that turns theatre into living, breathing experiences. We are deeply proud of everyone who help bring our productions to life and to the communities that keep it alive.

With our 35th season officially in the books, we want to take a moment to look back on its incredible stories and their bold explorations of identity, resilience, and the choices that shape us.

Season 35 earned both audience and critical acclaim, garnering three Critics Picks, six Elliot Norton nominations, and brought together audiences from not only across Boston, but New England and beyond. We’re so proud of the dedication and passion from our artists, staff, and audiences who made this season so memorable.

But the stories don’t end here. Season 36 subscriptions are on sale now, with even more exciting ways to engage beyond the stage.
