Colour and material inspiration on the studio work table

It’s 22 years since I graduated from .thehague this month. My graduation collection included a multi-layered jacquard hanging which was woven in Tilburg. Some of the layers were cut into, revealing ‘what lay beneath’. Other elements of my collection were multi-layered wallpapers, the inspiration being the layers of memories that accumulate in a building over the years, absorbed into the very structure itself.

Years later I’m still working with the same concepts: memory, emotion, the persistence of the past.

Still working in textiles, still weaving.

Throwback Thursday

2023 and my collection of statement brooches was taking shape. Unique handwoven fabrics bonded to balsa wood which had been carved into organic shapes. Inspired by pebbles found on the beaches of Scottish islands.
