Something’s brewing under the rug… and it’s almost time to pull it back.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned in Glasgow, it’s that the best stuff happens away from the spotlight - in the closes, around our communities, and the quiet stages at the back of the pub/cafe.

Welcome to the Rug.

A new magazine dedicated to the power of storytelling. We’re pulling back the curtain on Glasgow’s creative scene, showing the grit behind the glamour, documenting the stories that actually matter to us, and connecting our creatives with our city.

Whether you’re an artist, a local, or just someone who likes a good story, this is for you!

Our first issue is dropping realllllly soon, so follow along to find out where you can pick a copy up this month!

📣 CASTING CALL

Strikers is a new play by which will be performed as a work-in-progress at the Citizens Theatre on June 16th as part of Refugee Festival Scotland, presented by

Due to a last minute scheduling conflict, the team are now in search of a new performer to undertake the role.

About the play:
Strikers is a politically charged, absurdist play about a soldier falling apart under the pressure of war.

Javvo is forced into conscription. As conflict tears through him, his sense of self fragments. Different parts of his body - his Ears, Eyes, Brain, Mouth, Hands, Legs, Heart, and Mr.Pen*s - become separate characters, each with its own voice. Together they argue, remember, and try to survive inside a man who is losing himself.

👨‍💻SELTZER BOY CREW REVEAL👨‍💻

Introducing the fabulous Crew of Seltzer Boy by Connor McKenna for our CUTTIN’ A RUG 4!

Crew:

Directed by Greg Andrew
Dramaturged by Allie Willison

About the play:

“Who doesn’t love a good, fizzy beverage? The Seltzer Boy certainly does. Soda might be bad for you, diet soda is mixed at best, but seltzer? It’s fizzy, it’s got no calories, perfect on a hot day, and the amount of brands and flavors available are truly staggering, what can’t it do? Could it even cure the seltzer boy’s body image issues and dysmorphia? He certainly hopes it will, but it certainly will not. Seltzer Boy is a one-person monologue exploring one’s relationship to their body and the steps they take to mitigate dysmorphia and internalized fatphobia.”
