At Palm Beach Dramaworks (PBD), we produce “Theatre to Think About”: classic, contemporary, and world premiere plays that take audiences on an entertaining and emotional journey, stir the imagination, and stimulate discussion and debate. Each season, we produce five shows on our mainstage, all of which are created by and exclusive to PBD. We believe that theatre nourishes the soul and can change p

eople’s lives, which is why we are so invested in education and community engagement. We also feel strongly that regional theatres must encourage and nurture new work, and play development has become a significant part of our profile. Additionally, we are heavily invested in education and community engagement, and most of our education initiatives are free. We serve more than 30,000 patrons and 10,000 students annually, and employ over 100 artists: actors, directors, choreographers, and designers.

As mentioned yesterday, the One Humanity Tour is a free professional touring program for middle school students that cover topics that are going on in our county and our world every day.

7th grade students are presented with the show Live to Tell by Eric Coble. Here at PBD, we are using drama as a tool to raise awareness about human trafficking, specifically here in South Florida. In an effort to support education and raise awareness, this tour uses the power of storytelling and the performing arts to draw attention to the severity of the issue.

One of the most impactful programs we provide at Palm Beach Dramaworks is the One Humanity Tour, a free, professional touring program for middle school students created to use storytelling to develop informed, thoughtful and compassionate citizens.

Students in the 6th grade have been introduced to Swagger by playwright Eric Coble.
It is told in a "direct address" style by three characters whose lives intersect at a gripping moment in time. It brings up topics such as how to make responsible decisions, consider multiple perspectives, and how important empathy and awareness are.

Our fourth show of the season is no other than Arthur Miller's classic, Death of a Salesman!

This Pulitzer Prize-winning, groundbreaking play changed American theatre in the person of its everyman tragic hero, W***y Loman, a dime a dozen, disappointed, disillusioned traveling salesman with a skewed vision of the American Dream. All he wanted, the playwright wrote in his memoir, was "to count." Or as W***y's wife, Linda, implores, "Attention must be paid."

We're excited to bring this new work by Christopher Demos-Brown, titled The Cancellation of Lauren Fein.

Lauren Fein and her wife, Paola Munoz, are professors at a prestigious American university. They live with Dylan, their 16-year-old African American foster son whom they've cared for since he was a baby. When Professor Fein's actions run afoul of the university's "diversity, equity, and inclusion" policies, her groundbreaking research, her career, and her family are all put in danger.

Inspired by the life of Hungarian Holocaust survivor Georgia Gabor, the play is a meditation on the ties between past, present, and future, exploring and connecting Holocaust denialism, free speech in schools, and racial discrimination in present-day America.

Incredible production....soup to nuts perfect...I am a Southerner, Tennessee Williams works are poetry....he would be proud of this entire cast.

The person playing Blanche screeched too much. Maybe if she tried it in a lower octave, we might have understood more of her lines.
