Thank you, Tara Faircloth, PBO’s director for Roméo et Juliette, and Trent Stephens, Artistic Director of the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, for joining us for a discussion about interpreting Romeo and Juliette for the stage! Thank you to the Delray Beach Public Library for continuing to host our vibrant adult education sessions.

We hope to see everyone at the Kravis Center this weekend to experience Tara’s vision for Roméo et Juliette, and at the Commons Park Amphitheater in Palm Beach Gardens on January 30-Feburary 2 to see Trent’s production of As You Like it.

"Bringing Shakespeare to Life across the Arts: Romeo & Juliet" will explore various interpretations and adaptations of this timeless tale, ahead of the 2025 opening of Gounod's operatic version. 🥀

Held monthly at the Royal Poinciana Chapel’s historic Sea Gull Cottage, these afternoon recitals feature three singers with our virtuosic Associate Conductor Gregory Ritchey at the piano, performing the songs of composers such as Schubert, Debussy, and Vaughan Williams.

🎶 Contralto Lauren Decker returns to Palm Beach Opera as Gertrude in Roméo et Juliette!

Audiences may remember her as Quickly in Palm Beach Opera’s 2023 production of Falstaff. This season, she makes her European debut with Deutsche Oper Berlin, appearing in roles like Erda (Ring Cycle) and Mary (Der fliegende Holländer), alongside performances in Cavalleria rusticana and Suor Angelica.

With recent highlights that include collaborations with the San Francisco Symphony (Elgar’s Sea Pictures), Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9), and more.

We’re thrilled to welcome baritone Aleksey Bogdanov back to Palm Beach Opera as Count Capulet in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette!

This season, the Ukrainian-born American performer also returns to The Metropolitan Opera (Die Frau ohne Schatten, The Queen of Spades) and San Francisco Opera (Un ballo in Maschera, Tristan und Isolde), while appearing with The Glimmerglass Festival and The Clarion Society.

From performing iconic roles like Scarpia in Tosca to new works like Shostakovich's The Nose, Aleksey continues to bring depth and versatility to stages around the world. Don’t miss his portrayal of the formidable Capulet this January!
