As the only statewide nonprofit representing Florida’s fine craft artists, Florida CraftArt is a member-supported organization that helps mentor and advance artists. Headquartered at 5th Street and Central Avenue, this vibrant organization has been at the center of St. Gallery visitors delight in original, handmade fine craft — ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, and wood — created by more

than 250 of Florida’s finest craft artists. Every artist is vetted to ensure that the art is of the highest quality. During the year, there are seven curated shows in the Exhibition Gallery featuring local, regional, and national artists. Admission is always free to the galleries. Educational programming includes walking and bike mural tours, artist’s talks, lectures, hands-on activities, and workshops for adults and children. On the weekend before Thanksgiving, the annual CraftArt Festival welcomes more than 10,000 people to a free outdoor art show featuring 100 outstanding fine craft artists from around the country. The two-day festival held in downtown St. Petersburg is an ideal time for holiday gift shopping. Sponsored Emerging Artists are mentored and given the opportunity to launch and expand their careers. Founded in 1951, Florida CraftArt’s primary goal is the success of the fine craft artists of Florida, helping them develop into profitable professional artists. The gallery staff and board of directors are invested in mentoring artists in product development, marketing, pricing, and business practices. Florida CraftArt has a Permanent Collection of Fine Craft and other exhibitions that travel to art museums and organizations. On the second floor of Florida CraftArt’s 100-year-old building are ArtLofts, 20 artists’ studios. ArtLofts are open by appointment or by chance and on second Saturday ArtWalk.

Welcome a new ceramic artist to the gallery- Carly Gibran!

Carly is an artist from Deland, FL and we are so excited to have her be a part of Florida CraftArt!

Here is Carly discussing her work:
“My work is primarily created using a midfire translucent porcelain. Despite the unforgiving nature, I love this material for its brightness and translucency. The making process, thinness of the clay, glazes, textures and the temperamental qualities of porcelain result in finished work that often has irregularities. For me, this points to the hand made history of each object.”

Carly Gibran began working in clay in 1997. She earned a degree in Studio Art and Art History from Stetson University in 2003. Working out of her studio in her hometown of DeLand, she creates functional and sculptural porcelain ceramics, drawing inspiration from the natural world. Carly has taught ceramics art centers, workshop facilities, community colleges and public schools for over 20 years.

Unwrapped: Handmade Holidays is Florida CraftArt’s annual juried members’ holiday exhibition, inviting Florida-based Fine Craft artists to showcase the state’s best handmade gifts and artwork. You do not need to be a member to apply but, if accepted, you must be a current Florida CraftArt member to participate: floridacraftart.org/membership.

Memberships start at $60/year and include benefits such as discounts on gallery purchases, reciprocal museum memberships, discounted open-call applications, and more.

What are we looking for? Artwork does *not* need to be holiday-themed. While ornaments, greeting cards, and themed décor are welcome, we also encourage non-holiday-themed items that make great gifts. For example, home goods, wearables, functional items, jewelry, notebooks, mugs, and items for pets and kids at low- to mid-range price points are great for this exhibition.

Located on Central Avenue in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida CraftArt offers residents and visitors the opportunity to fine unique and beautiful handmade work that supports the people, traditions, and talents of our vibrant community.

There is a link for the application in our bio OR visit floridacraftart.org/artist-opportunities/ to learn more.

At Florida CraftArt, we are proud to represent over 200 craft artists throughout the Sunshine State 🌞🌴🐠

Vero Beach printmaker, John Davis, captures the vitality and wild beauty of the Florida sea and sky. His hand-pulled linocuts reflect his observations of the landscape and its inhabitants with organic mastery. After carving the linoleum block and printing the image in black ink, he carefully paints in each image individually creating truly one of a kind works of art. His work has become a celebrated staple in our retail gallery among visitors and collectors alike.

We receive new work every week from the most talented fine craft artists across the state. Come learn more about others like John Davis and support the arts in Florida today!

Open Monday - Saturday from 10am-5:30pm and Sundays from 12pm-5pm

What happens when technology becomes part of the creative process rather than simply a means of production? This is the question Curator Mary Ratcliff examines through our current exhibition Future Form ⚛️

Featured here is a look inside the process of exhibiting artist Matthew Apol who combines machine automation and handcrafted design. This series of works utilizes the observed patterns of OSB (oriented strand board) and its interactions with man and nature. A recurring theme in the growing conversation of modern technology’s place in the art world.

This Thursday (today) from 5:30-7pm we’ll be exploring this digital discourse through a Gallery Conversation between Future Form’s guest curator Mary Ratcliff Mary Ratcliff and exhibiting artist Kimberlie Tatalick Kim Tatalick ⚡️🛠️⚡️

The event will be held in our exhibition space at no cost to the public.
