AN EXHIBITION OF LE***AN ART FROM THE PAST 50 YEARS IS COMING YOUR WAY THIS FALL!

In 2026 Sinister Wisdom, A Multicultural Le***an Literary & Art Journal, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. To honor this milestone, D**e+ ArtHaus in Philadelphia will be presenting an exciting new exhibition, “50 Years of Le***an Art: Sinister Wisdom’s Creative Legacies”, opening October 17, 2026. [Artists to be announced soon!]

The exhibition will showcase 25 visual artists who have contributed to Sinister Wisdom since the journals founding in 1976, spanning generations, countries, and mediums.

To make this exhibition possible, we need a boost. We are seeking funds to support the shipping, framing, and installation of work for the show.

So if you love le****ns, and le***an artists and curators, please spread that love (and wealth) to help make this happen.

Donate directly via the QR code in the second and third images, or at the link in bio. Let’s make this exhibit sing!

With love and thanks from the bottom of our d**ey hearts,

Bell Beecher Pitkin and Juno Rosenhaus, Curators

Feminisms Against Authoritarianism, a panel conversation, is part of the current D**e+ ArtHaus exhibit, “Bridging D**e and Trans Feminisms”.

Monday, May 4, 7pm
The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St, Philly

In an authoritarian political moment strongly defined by overt anti-trans, anti-disability, anti-poor, anti-q***r, racist and misogynist policy-setting in the context of an ever-growing police state, it is necessary that our intersectional communities build a tighter web of defiance, looking to feminist principles of solidarity and resistance to guide us. The work in this exhibit speaks collectively to the intersection of feminisms, community care, world-building, and the continuing fight for Trans and Q***r liberation.

The May 4 discussion will delve deeper into aspects of feminism, art, and organizing that are at the heart of the exhibit.

Our three Philly-based panelists are:

~Lina Martínez Hernández, scholar-activist, and translator
~Sophie Lewis, writer, theorist, teacher
~Olaiya Olayemi, artist, educator, healer, activist

Let's talk about it.

A solid foundation for bridge-building exists between two branches of feminism, Le***an Feminism and Trans Feminism. In this exciting exhibit, six pairs of Philadelphia-based, multigenerational and multi-gender artists collaborated to create new work in mixed media, painting, sculpture, textiles, video, and zines. Months of dialogue and community-building produced this shared project of resistance.

Carrying politics in their bodies the artists responded to each other, their communities, and the world at-large. Referencing themes of monstrosity, q***r joy and pain, being on the fringes, darkness, struggle, and lifelines, their work speaks collectively to the intersection of feminisms, community care, world-building, and the continuing fight for Trans and Q***r liberation.

Additional artist talks and community conversations to be announced.

I Won’t Be Pretty For You: Vulvas Q***red will have its closing event on Saturday, January 31, 4-6 PM. Artist Juno Rosenhaus will give a short talk with Q&A at 5 PM.

I Won’t Be Pretty For You: Vulvas Q***red is a gender-inclusive, collaborative community photo project based on each participant’s reimagining of their v***a. Participants include trans women, trans men, cis women, and gender non-confirming q***rs photographed in the Bay Area, Berlin, Chicago, New Orleans, and Philadelphia.

Vulvas Q***red is designed to facilitate and provoke conversation and story sharing about the trauma, delight, power, and pure radicalness of q***red v***as, with the goal of deepening the conversation beyond ge****ls equal gender or s*x, and contest the assumption that the v***a is a body part that should look the same on every body.
