During Tuesday's Free Admission Day, we welcomed more than 4,000 visitors to BPZOO! It was wonderful seeing everyone experience the Zoo, whether for the very first time or the 70th.

This special day was made possible through the generous support of the Highland Street Foundation We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to host an August Adventures day, connecting thousands of people through nature and conservation. We also want to give a special thanks to our friends at the New Bedford Art Museum for providing a space where visitors could blend their love of nature with arts and crafts!

An update on last night's incident at the Zoo: Around 6:00 PM yesterday, an HVAC unit experienced a belt failure at the Wildlife Education Center, prompting an emergency response.

The New Bedford Fire Department arrived quickly and efficiently mitigated the situation. At no point was there any danger to BPZOO animals, staff, or visitors.

We are deeply grateful for the swift response of the New Bedford Fire Department. We are open today during our normal hours, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Free Admission Day: Tuesday, Aug. 25!

We're welcoming everyone to the Zoo today from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm with free admission, thanks to the generous support of the Street Foundation !

Explore more than 200 species of animals, play in our two dedicated outdoor play spaces, ride the carousel, and discover our newly renovated Animal Ambassador Center.

No advance tickets required! Simply arrive at the front gates and let the fun begin. (Please note that our online ticketing system is currently down for maintenance.) We can't wait to welcome you all!

American Guinea Hogs may not win any marathons, but could win a short sprint as they can reach up to 11–15 mph in short burst!

The American Guinea Hog is a rare heritage breed that nearly went extinct in the 1990s. By caring for Maple and Grenadine here at BPZOO, we help preserve crucial agricultural biodiversity and give these amazing animals a platform to educate the public on their history as essential multipurpose farm pigs in early America.

The Class of 2039 is ready to start their remarkable journey!

We were honored to welcome New Bedford's future doctors, police officers, astronauts, and zookeepers during New Bedford Public Schools traditional Smooth Sailing into Kindergarten event. Hundreds of families came to the Zoo, met with teachers, classmates, and community partners, and geared up for the first day of school.
