This week, New Light Theatre was honored at the atTAcK addiction annual gala with their Persistence Award for our work on The White Chip.

AtTAcK addiction shared the following words:

“At the heart of New Light Theatre’s mission is a commitment to deepening human connection and empathy. They strive to shine a light into the darkness that many people face, raise awareness for those who suffer in isolation, and use storytelling as a catalyst for education, understanding, and positive change. They approach difficult subjects authentically and responsibly, creating opportunities for audiences and artists alike to learn, engage, and make a meaningful impact in their communities. Through The White Chip, they have done exactly that.

This powerful production has opened conversations about addiction, recovery, mental health, and hope. More than a theatrical performance, it has become a vehicle for awareness, compassion, and transformation. The cast, crew, creative team, and leadership behind this production chose to use their talents, platforms, and voices to confront one of the most pressing public health challenges of our time. Because of their persistence, more Delawareans are talking about recovery, understanding addiction, and recognizing that healing is possible.

Their commitment to this work has reached communities across our state and strengthened an essential message: recovery is possible, and no one should struggle alone.

For their unwavering dedication, their partnership, and their persistence in creating lasting change through the arts, it is our privilege to present the Persistence Award to the team behind The White Chip, produced by New Light Theatre.

May we never underestimate the power of a story to save a life. New Light Theater, thank you for helping turn awareness into action and hope into change.”

We are humbled to receive this honor, and to be bringing The White Chip on a FREE community tour of the state starting next week. Learn more, and make free reservations to join us again, or for the first time, share tour info with others, and never underestimate the power of a story to save a life. newlighttheatre.com/the-white-chip

We are deeply honored to be able to take The White Chip on a FREE tour in the next few weeks!

Following our March production of Sean Daniels life-saving comedy, in partnership with atTAcKaddiction, and nominated for a Barrymore Award for Social Insight, we now have four tour dates around the state of Delaware to bring access to this incredible piece of theatre to more communities, and offering FREE tickets for every performance.

The arts have the power to reduce stigma and inspire change, and we are so grateful to be doing all we can to remove the barriers to accessibility for The White Chip.

The White Chip stops at Route 9 Library in New Castle, DelTech Dover and Georgetown campuses, and the Lewes Library. All performances are free to the public, but ticket reservations are required for seating purposes. We hope you’ll join us, and also share with folks around Delaware who may be interested in joining us in November.

Big thanks to our sponsors, Delaware Technical Community College atTAcKaddiction and DHSS for making this tour possible, and for helping us shine our light brighter!

We’ve heard you asking: “what’s next for NLT?” We can finally share the answer!

New Light Theatre is thrilled to announce our March 2027 production of Lauren Gunderson’s anthropology, directed by Allison Heishman, in support of Trauma Matters Delaware.

When software engineer Merril’s sister Angie disappears, she turns to the one thing she understands best, artificial intelligence. Using years of digital history, she creates an AI version of Angie in a desperate attempt to find the truth. anthropology asks urgent questions about memory, identity, and the limits of what technology can restore.

New Light Theatre is committed to shining a light in the darkness by using each production to raise awareness and support for organizations that deepen our empathy and connection with one another through meaningful artistic work. In accordance with this mission, anthropology partners with the Trauma Matters Delaware, an organization that serves as a hub in advancing the collective effort to prevent and heal trauma.
