The Gallery at MCCC Located on the second floor of the Communications Center (CM) on the West Windsor Campus of Mercer

The award-winning 1,300-square-foot gallery features the work of emerging, mid-career, and established artists. All events, including exhibitions and receptions, are free and open to the public. You are invited to become a community volunteer for The Gallery. Your contribution of two, three, four or more hours a week will help ensure continuing access to the arts through The Gallery. Our deadline for the 2027 Artist Residency Program is TOMORROW, Saturday October 31st at midnight! Have you submitted your application?

Four residencies will be awarded, each lasting three weeks in the Spring Semester of 2027 - two residencies designated for Mercer County artists, and two residents from outside the county. Residents will be assigned one of out two gallery side spaces to create an exhibition or performance-based project.

Artists will have the unique opportunity to showcase their work co-currently with another resident in the mirroring space. During the residency, artists are required to collaborate with MCCC students and staff on their project and conduct workshops in the main gallery space.

The Gallery at MCCC welcomes proposals in all media, including (but not limited to) painting, sculpture, installation, performance, photography and video.

We are still buzzing over our lecture and opening reception from last Tuesday celebrating Howard Schwartzberg and his exhibit, "The Classroom". Thank you to everyone who came out and gave their support!

Join us TOMORROW 12:00PM-1:00PM in CM109 for our distinguished lecture and 5:30PM-7:30PM at the Gallery for our opening reception celebrating our visiting artist Howard Schwartzberg and his exhibit "The Classroom".

At a point of real momentum as an artist, Howard shifted and devoted years to the craft of teaching. His recent return to exhibiting shows what that time in the classroom did to his practice. His work, which blurs the line between painting and sculpture through canvas, burlap, bags, and color, makes a strong case that teaching and making are one continuous practice rather than competing ones.

"The Classroom" is on display starting today until December 18th. Stop by during open hours listed below:

Howard also currently has a large-scale installation, "Volume, Surface, Core", at the University at Albany’s art museum from October 3 - April 2. For more information email us at [email protected]

The Classroom officially opens in FOUR days on Monday October 19th!

Our artist, Howard Schwartzberg will be holding a distinguished lecture on Tuesday, October 20th from 12:00PM-1:00PM in CM109 and an opening reception celebrating his work will be held later that evening from 5:30PM-7:30PM at the Gallery (CM200).

Light refreshments will be provided by our very own Mercer Canteen.

If you cannot attend the lecture or reception, The Classroom will be on display Monday through Friday until December 18th.

Faculty Show Spotlight: Professor Lauren Rabinowitz

Lauren Rabinowitz received her BFA from Parsons School of Design and MA from Syracuse University. She has been working professionally as an illustrator and designer for over 25 years, specializing in digital media. She continues to paint and draw with traditional media, while simultaneously creating digital and motion graphics. Her artwork has been shown and sold in galleries, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Her digital production clients include publishers, advertising agencies, large corporations, small businesses and nonprofit organizations. She is currently teaching Internet Tools and Techniques and Web Design I this fall.

We are so excited to host visiting artist Howard Schwartzberg and his exhibit, "The Classroom", opening Monday October 19th!

"I grew up in Coney Island, Brooklyn, looking out from a twentieth-floor window onto the ocean and a neglected amusement park. I still live and run my studio in Brooklyn, on the other side of the borough near Pratt Institute, where I studied as an undergraduate. As a child, my summers were spent in a bungalow colony in Woodbourne, New York, which left a lasting impression and fostered a deep connection to nature, planting the seeds for an eventual return.

I began exhibiting in New York City in the early 1990s, with exhibitions at The Drawing Center and Stux Gallery, followed by a one-person exhibition at Silverstein Gallery in Chelsea in 1998 and an environmental earthwork at Socrates Sculpture Park in 1999. For more than twenty years, I taught art in the New York City public school system, developing educational programs for students, staff, and the wider community that integrated concepts of relational aesthetics.

Since my retirement, I have refocused on painting in my Brooklyn and Catskills studios and returned to exhibiting, most recently with two solo exhibitions at Private Public Gallery in Hudson, New York, and with an upcoming show at the University of Albany Museum in 2026."

Howard will be holding a distinguished lecture 12:00PM-1:00PM in CM109 on Tuesday, October 20th. An opening reception will be held in the evening from 5:30PM-7:30PM at the Gallery (CM200).
