Forté Dramatic Productions Forté Dramatic Productions produces concerts, staged readings, plays, and musicals in Mercer County

Forté Dramatic Productions is focused on selecting plays, musicals, and music that offer challenges for the production staff and performers, and a rewarding experience for the audience. With a firm belief that content dictates form, Forte Drama has no home theater to speak of, but rather will seek out venues that suit the needs of each work being presented. Small and intimate shows will require s

mall and intimate venues, grand musicals will require larger venues, and whenever possible, shows that allow for unique settings will be presented in venues that may be unique in and of themselves. Though an amateur production company by definition, Forte Drama strives to present productions reflecting a high-level of dedication, talent, skill, and expertise that accompany the joys of working on a community theatre production.

Mark your calendars... April 20th, 2024. I will be returning to Princeton, NJ for a one-night only concert to benefit Scattergood Friends School. This will be my opportunity to say thank you and farewell to Princeton Friends School, Princeton Friends Summer Camp, Forté Dramatic Productions, and the Theater People of Bucks/Mercer County, be they at Town and Country Players, Kelsey Theater, or wherever else our paths may have crossed. I will be singing songs from throughout my theatrical past, and inviting a few friends to join in for some fun duets and more. This will also be my chance to introduce my NJ/PA life to my Iowa life and the amazing school that I am blessed to be leading. Scattergood serves as an oasis of education in an increasingly complicated and challenging world in which our youth, particularly those who are LGBTQ+ find themselves. I think it is important that folks on the coast learn about how to support and encourage such opportunities throughout the country. So, mark your calendars. 8pm on April, 20th. Limited tickets for a venue in Princeton, NJ will be available by invite/request only. Virtual tickets for the live stream will be available for all at an affordable price point. I want my tribes to meet and celebrate art, life, and education. Be there or be square. KUNGALOOSH!!!

Forté Dramatic Productions is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bob Thick. It was a pleasure to have worked with him on Inherit the Wind in 2019 when he masterfully took on the role of Matthew Harrison Brady.

That's a fine looking scene! Come out and join us this weekend in heavenly Hillsborough!

Dear friends of Forte and fellow thespians,

I come to you today with bittersweet news. I have been offered the position of Head of School at Scattergood Friends School, outside of Iowa City, Iowa. I’ve created a video for those who would like to hear more about Scattergood and what it is that is calling me to Iowa, that video is attached to this post..

As you can imagine we are thrilled with this opportunity and very excited to join the Scattergood community. We are also very sad for the loss of you, our theatrical community, from our normal lives.

Unfortunately, Steff and my departure from Forte has meant that will we be placing the group on a temporary hiatus. Just how temporary, who knows, but we do know that we will be unable to move forward with either 1776 or our Jim Henson concert, and are very sorry for that. This also means that I will be bowing out of Pinnworth’s upcoming production of Evita, and for that I am downright depressed.

While it is my hope to return to the area and this community at some point in our future, this does feel like an appropriate moment to say a few things that one might say when departing.

First, thank you to all of the performers, crew members, technicians, musicians, and artists who helped bring my visions to life. Nothing has made me prouder than sitting in the back of the audience and watching you all bring magic to life. Except, perhaps, for the times I’ve been able to share the stage with you.
To those who have directed me, thank you for your patience and guidance.
To Mike, thank you for listening, in so many ways.
To Scott, thank you for saying yes and figuring it out.
To Peter, thank you for bringing music to my life.
To John, thank you for your honesty.
To Steff, thank you for everything.

When theater is at its best, it brings people together. I hope that my work has done that.

With gratitude, and a few tears in my eyes,
John
