Happy Second Century Sunday!

Today, we’re featuring the work of Boleslaw Kochanowski Iron. He and his sons are the blacksmiths and artists creating the new railing along the ramp in the Great Hall. The video below highlights their work as they recreate existing and historic railings. The base was installed this week, but the intricate details will be added later.

Just as this campaign honors The Grand’s history, Boleslaw’s work honors his history. Blacksmithing runs in his family, tracing back to more than a century ago, when his family owned a blacksmith shop in Poland! We are so thrilled to have Boleslaw’s work as part of the Second Century project.

You can see the beautiful new railing, along with the rest of the transformed Grand Theater, on November 7th, now just 69 days away!

A project as large as the Second Century campaign needs an equally large team behind it to bring it to life. That includes everything from designers and contractors to painters and artists. One of those people is David Blunt (Blunt Custom Creations), a Wausau man crafting the tables that artists and their teams will use in our newly renovated green room. We are so thrilled to have local companies and people share their talents and work with us on this project.

David shares how he got involved in the project, what he’s creating, and why he loves woodworking.

His work is just one piece of the puzzle that is the Second Century project. Construction inside The Grand will be finished in just a few months, but we cannot finish it without you!
