The historic preservation of a landmark 1843 whaling era building. The Hygienic Art Building was nine days from demolition for a parking lot. Kudos to the Hygienic artists, board members and volunteer community members who rallied to save a part of New London’s history and identity for future generations. The preservation work continues. It can be done. Thank you for supporting Hygienic Art

Barkley Hendricks was instrumental for development of the concept and implementation of the Hygienic Art shows and exhibited in every show for 38 years. He and his wife Susan, one of our board members at the time, also headed up the New London Mural Walk project, organizing and hiring artists who painted seven new murals in the City in 2012.

Call for Artists/Artisans: Receiving Thursday,November 12th and Friday, November 13th from 12-7pm. All works must be priced to be especially affordable for the holiday season. Items should be priced under $100 each (affordable gift-giving in mind) and suggested in multiples (minimum series of 4). For example, a series is a set of like-items (i.e. series of 4+ scarves or a series of 4+ wooden bowls). Items within a series do not need to be exactly the same.
Hygienic Art will retain a 30% commission on all sales of artwork during the show. Artists will receive the remaining 70%.
Art=Gift includes a wide array of exquisite art including, but not limited to: Paintings, Prints, Photography, Glass Art, Jewelry, Hand-printed T-shirts, Knitted Garments, Drawings, Wood-Turning, Holiday Cards, and Ornaments.
