Lyman Allyn Art Museum

Lyman Allyn Art Museum Celebrating the power of art since 1932.

Located just off I-95, Exit 83, the Lyman Allyn Art Museum has enjoyed celebrating the arts with visitors for almost a century. The Museum presents a stimulating mix of changing exhibitions, in addition to our permanent installations that celebrate American art and history, and Louis Comfort Tiffany’s close connection to the area. In 2025 the Museum plans to open Lyman Allyn Park, an urban park th

at will serve as a cultural and educational resource for the City of New London and surrounding region. Although construction may temporarily limit access to the grounds, the Museum will remain open during its regular hours throughout this period.

Upcoming exhibition alert!📣
Over a long and productive career in sculpture, artist Howard McCalebb (American, b. 1947) has been inspired by the myriad shapes and forms that emerge from the matrix of the Golden Ratio. Opening June 27, this exhibition features a selection of the artist’s small and mid-size sculptures, drawings, paintings and collages.

For McCalebb, the Golden Ratio and the use of near primary colors offer a structure that transcends culture and grounds his practice in a universal formula. McCalebb’s large-scale sculptures and other works have been exhibited across the United States and in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Bulgaria, China and the United Arab Emirates, and his work is held in museums and collections worldwide. For the last few years, he has lived and worked in Norwich, Connecticut, operating the studio and gallery Dada Post USA. Prior to that, he spent over a decade in Berlin, Germany, running the gallery and artist residency (Kunstraum) Dada Post.
