You've been waiting for it all year and you didn't even realize! KCSD is finally taking over the Dogwood Arts First Friday Block Party and throwing our first ever Homies Jam! 🎉

In addition to teaching a free dance lesson and our new line dance, the Scruffy Shuffle, we're also hosting a cypher space for all styles and all skill levels to enjoy! DJ DREWSKii will keep the jam going all night (from 5-8 pm) and we'll bring the energy so all you have to bring is yourself and a few friends! We are so grateful for the opportunity to continue to create community joy spaces and we want to celebrate the all of the amazing homies who have supported us along the way. 🫂

If you're still on the fence about showing up, don't be! Homies means you! Whether you just want to watch, learn the line dance, or freestyle, we've got a spot on the dance floor with your name on it and we can't wait to see you there! 🫶🏿

Fall is falling and we're so excited to dance the season through! 🌬🍂🕸

We're starting off this month strong with Maddei bringing the playful vibes with Twerk Whine Down! Next, get in your choreo bag in Hip Hop with Wes J. Wright! Feel like you didn't hit the moves the way that you wanted? Pull up to Technique with Tyler Tomko to master your form and find your freestyle! And finally, level up your breaking basics with JB ! We'll see you, ready to learn and dance every Tuesday this month at BAPA at 7 pm!

Outside of class, join us for our special Guerrilla Warfares | Knoxville Dance Collective Battle Practices at 8 pm on Oct 13 and 27 as we prepare for this year's Guerilla Jam on Dec 19! Outside of doors, come recharge in the cool fall air at our Outdoor Seshes from 6-8 pm on Thursdays Oct 8 and 22 at World's Fair Park!

If after reading all that you're still looking for a sign to come to dance, THIS IS IT! 🔮 We want to dance with you whether it's in the studio, at the park, or on a dance floor somewhere in a dope costume! 💃🏿

Thank you Dr. Alexandria Onuoha, aka Dr. O, Alexandria C. Onuoha, Ph.D. for bringing your movement, theory, and cultures to KCSD! Our community moved in new and familiar ways, and we are grateful to have dived deep into fusion and how it lives in our bodies, minds, and spaces as joyful creatives. We hope to host you again soon!

🗣️7PM TONIGHT!! Alexandria C. Onuoha, Ph.D. will be bringing AFRO-CARIBBEAN & MODERN DANCE WORKSHOP to KCSD. This will be a workshop that features movement and discussion, so please bring a notepad if you’d like to take notes. Workshop is $15 and at BAPA (706 N Broadway). See you tonight 💃🏾

Reading Rocks 🤘🏾🎶 Wes J. Wright & Maddei had an GREAT time being guests for The Bottom Lit Kidz! Wes read Electric Slide with Kai by Kelly J. Baptist (Kelly J. Baptist) and taught along with Maddei as her boogie side kick on how “Lil Slide” got his name. PLEASE 🙏🏽 don’t forget to pick up a copy at The Bottom of this fun and electrifying story about dancing with family and embodying movement within yourself⚡️ (📸: natori )
