Choosing and Using on a Small Woodlot
September 14, 2026 | 3:00 - 5:00pm
East Alstead, NH

During this workshop, foresters and the landowner will show participants how to decide which trees to leave and which trees to cut during forest management based on the landowner's stewardship goals and interests. We hope that what you learn in these woods could be applicable in your own backyard.

There will be a demonstration of using the log arch to extract a cut log. The log arch is available to rent through CCCD.

Various Locations in Cheshire and Sullivan County

Join Extension Foresters for a 7-part tree identification course that will cover over 50 tree and shrub species commonly found in New Hampshire. The course will include 2 lab sessions and 5 field sessions. Each lab session will be inside for 3 hours, and each field session will be outside for 2 hours. Please come prepared for a leisurely walk on hiking trails. Space is limited. Apply soon!

Mount Monadnock Forestry Tour

Join Extension foresters, Forest Society staff, and professional foresters for a hiking tour of the forestry demonstration area around the Marlboro Trail on Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH.

Participants will discover the methods foresters use to change how a forest is growing, learn about current threats to forest health and how this project is focused on growing a climate resilient forest and explore the effects of a century of sustainable forest management in this area.

UNH Extension and NH Division of Forests and Lands will discuss the impact of hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) over the past 25 years in the Monadnock Region. Presenters will share the status of hemlock in the state, information about hemlock woolly adelgid, and efforts to control this forest pest in the state and beyond.

Join a network of fellow educators who are expanding food system literacy and nutrition education in New Hampshire! 4-H Farm to School Fellows (F2SF) use the Harvest of the Month curriculum to engage school students in grade K – 5 in food literacy and nutrition education that makes a lasting impact. Fellows also connect with peers through networking meetings, workshops, and presentation opportunities to broaden their own knowledge and support one another. Applications close September 1st.
