☀️ ONE WEEK LEFT TO APPLY! ☀️

There’s just one week left to apply for the 2027 Sunny Dayz Teen Mentorship Program!

62 Oklahoma teens have gone through our mentorship program over the years, and this year we’re expanding the experience from a week-long program into a seven-month mentorship designed to give young artists the tools, knowledge, experience, and connections to explore muralism and public art.

From November through May, artists ages 16–19 will meet monthly via Zoom with professional muralists, educators, and arts professionals.

Mentees will learn about:

🎨 Developing ideas + storytelling
🎨 Composition + designing for a wall
🎨 Color, materials + painting techniques
🎨 Scaling mural designs
🎨 Collaboration + working on a mural team
🎨 The business side of being a professional artist
🎨 Mural installation

Then we’ll bring it all together during Sunny Week in Shawnee, where mentees will work together on a small mural with guidance from professional artists and Sunny Dayz leadership.

📅 Applications close October 25 at midnight. Apply at the link in bio!

When you’re open to new energy, it might surprise you. ✨

“Sunny Dayz was an experience I wasn’t expecting to impact me the way it did,” said 2026 muralist Erica Pretty Eagle. “I left feeling full and am still carrying the beautiful energy from creating with other artists, painting alongside my sister, and being completely in my element. I learned so much and truly feel like I grew and evolved as an artist.”

From now through November 9, it’s Sunny Dayz application season. We’re sharing real reflections from last year’s muralists to encourage YOU to go for it, too!

Believe it or not, you don’t have to have everything figured out before applying. While our review panel does look for strong style and clear direction in your previous work, we also want to know how you’ll grow by participating in Sunny Dayz. (btw, we have an application just for “newbies” who have never painted a mural before!)

Bring an open mind and share your dreams! The universe might surprise you.

One-of-a-kind Sunny energy. ☀️

“The energy of Sunny Dayz truly reflects its name! Even through the rain, the vibe was bright, joyful, and uplifting. This is one of my favorite festivals I’ve painted at because of the genuine care that I felt all the way down to the details,” said 2026 muralist Wingchow.

Sunny Dayz muralists start painting the week leading up to the festival (“Sunny Week”), which offers artists time to connect with each other as well as the local community. It’s where the magic REALLY starts happening — thanks to Sunny Week production leads Anna Humes and Natalie Lash! From swag bags and crafts to snacks, meals, and a kickoff party, you’re in for an experience that’s so much more than painting a wall.

Be a part of it! Applications to be a 2027 muralist are now OPEN. 💫

Sometimes you just need someone else to believe in you first!

One of our former mentees said it better than we ever could: “The one thing all of these mentors had in common is that they believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. My mentors were my biggest cheerleaders, and I have them to thank for the fact that I am my own biggest cheerleader today.” 😭💛

That is the kind of mentorship we believe in. Showing up. Sharing knowledge. Answering questions. Encouraging them to try. And reminding them that they are capable of more than they realize.

We’re accepting applications for Oklahoma artists ages 16–19 for the 2027 Sunny Dayz Mentorship Program. Pottawatomie County students will be prioritized.

Applications close October 25 at midnight! Apply at the link in our bio.

Sometimes you don’t know what’s possible because you’ve never had the chance to see it!

One former mentee told us: “Before having joined Sunny Dayz under their mentee program, I had never imagined myself working and expressing myself artistically at such a large scale, but Sunny Dayz opened that door for me.”

That’s why access matters. Young artists deserve opportunities to meet professional artists. To see what creative work looks like outside of a classroom. To try things they may never have had the chance to try. To imagine a future they couldn’t see before.

We’re accepting applications for the 2027 Sunny Dayz Mentorship Program from Oklahoma artists ages 16–19. Pottawatomie County students will be prioritized.

You don’t have to already know where your art is going. You just have to be willing to explore.

Applications close October 25 at midnight. Apply at the link in our bio.

Finding your people can change everything!!

One of our former mentees told us: “Everyone felt invested in my success and I got to meet and spend time with some really cool people. I think I made some valuable connections and I feel way more equipped for future projects.”

That’s what we want Sunny Dayz mentorship to be.

A place where young artists can meet people who understand them. A place where they can ask questions, try new things, make mistakes, and know there are people in their corner.

For some young artists, finding a creative community can be the difference between wondering “Is there a place for me here?” and realizing “Oh. These are my people.”

We’re accepting applications for the 2027 Sunny Dayz Mentorship Program from Oklahoma artists ages 16–19, with Pottawatomie County students prioritized.
