Our artists went to great lengths to honor Claremore’s rich history and culture 🦬🌸🐳 We’re grateful for the kind words from our friend Steve Robison at the Claremore Museum of History!

“The 2026 Sunny Dayz murals brought Claremore’s story to life in the most vibrant, unexpected way. Oklahoma native flowers, grasses, insects, and wildlife move across the walls alongside Cherokee pottery motifs, Osage ribbonwork, and the legend of Deer Woman. The cultural significance of the bison and the eagle are honored with such reverence, iconic Oklahoma sunsets, sunrises, and summer nights glow from wall to wall, and even a nod to Patti Page and the Blue Whale found their way into the mix. As a museum, we spend our days preserving Claremore’s history. The care and intention these artists brought to Claremore’s people, land, and heritage moved us deeply, and we are so proud this community was chosen.”

We already miss our friends Spectrum Paint! They provided all of our priming paint and gift cards for each of our artists to shop for supplies 🥹🤯

“All of the artists were incredible to work with. Kind, patient, energetic, enthusiastic. I loved getting to watch them work. It was also incredible to see the action on social media, supporting our local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. Then afterward, seeing the community enjoy the murals for the first time was super cool. With several murals being in alleys, I think we’ll continue to have folks discover new murals every time they come downtown!” - Gentry Stafford, Spectrum Paint

“Oklahoma Quilted” | sj.sikes_

This mural is a giant cozy quilt and we cannot get over it 🌼🧵

Sarah Sikes brought her background in fiber art straight onto the wall for her very first mural, and it shows in the best way!! A patchwork of teal, green, and blue checkerboard along with a series of quilt-block style panels, each one featuring native Oklahoma wildflowers like coneflower, aster, blanket flower, and Indian paintbrush 🌸✨

Sarah is a seamstress and engineer by trade, and you can feel both of those skills at work here, the precision of the pattern paired with the warmth of a handmade quilt. Taking a textile practice and translating it into paint for the first time is no small feat, and she nailed it 🙌

Big thank you to Lissa Barr Shaw, Jim, and Grace for sponsoring “Oklahoma Quilted”!

“let things change” | virginia sitzes

This one hits different when you know the story behind it 💛

Virginia Sitzes is the founder of Sunny Dayz Mural Festival, and this year she came back not as director, but as an artist, spray cans in hand ready to paint on the walls of Claremore Chamber of Commerce 🥹 And she did not disappoint!!

“let things change” is pure Virginia, pure dopamine magic. A vibrant burst of abstraction that fills the entire wall with energy and movement. The kind of mural you can stand in front of for a long time and keep finding something new 🌈✨ Her work is about letting go, and you can feel that freedom in every inch of this wall.

Big thank you to McCall Family Foundation for sponsoring “let things change”!

“Stitch, Please” | Paige Summers + Lauren Hoffmeister

We are so here for this colorful wall!! 🩷✨

BugGirlz is the dynamic duo of Paige and Lauren! They brought completely different styles to the table, and together they made something bold, cohesive, and impossible to miss.

The mural wraps around the back of Community Fibers, a beloved local yarn shop in Claremore, and every element is a love letter to both the business and the community 💕 A giant bright pink cowboy boot takes center stage, overflowing with big balls of yarn. The rolling yarn-shaped hills, button flowers, clouds, and rainbow in the background make the whole scene feel like the most cheerful place imaginable 🌈🌸🧶

The details are everything!! The flowers on the boot are loosely based on the Cherokee Rose, a nod to the Cherokee land the mural sits on. The cowboy boot itself is a tribute to Claremore’s very own Will Rogers. So much local love packed into one wall 🤠

“Bold & Becoming” | Dani

This one stops you in your tracks and makes you think!! ✨

Danielle’s work explores the intricate dance between self and ego, and “Bold & Becoming” brings that vision to life in the most striking way. The message at the heart of it all? Growth begins when ego takes a back seat and love leads the way 💛 Every element, the clouds suggesting openness and possibility, the flowing linework suggesting transformation, the bold colors suggesting courage, is doing something intentional. This is visual storytelling at its finest.

Big thank you to AXH Air-Coolers for sponsoring “Bold & Becoming”!

Patti & Thunder” | kaitlin ziesmer + Norah Waller

This one is a true ode to Claremore and Oklahoma!! 🤩

Kaitlin and Norah brought so much care and creativity to this piece. Kaitlin is a seasoned muralist with over a decade of experience, and Norah is a young emerging artist. Norah participated in our teen mentorship program previously and painted this year as a paid artist!! That is such a huge deal and we could not be more proud 🙌

The Great Blue Heron, native to Oklahoma, dressed in full western style, cowboy hat, western shirt, and a star on her cheek, is a direct nod to an outfit worn by Claremore’s own Patti Page in a beloved photo 🐦⭐ On the right, Thunder, a bison rendered in a clean, graphic style, paying tribute to the cultural significance of bison to Oklahoma’s indigenous communities 🦬

Kaitlin’s light-hearted, illustrative style and Norah’s fresh perspective came together seamlessly, and the result is joyful, bold, and so uniquely Oklahoma!!

Big thank you to Thomas Steele for sponsoring “Patti & Thunder”!

“Stewards of the Land” | Nico Cathcart + Kate Erso

Here’s one with a story that goes so much deeper than the wall itself!

When Sunny Dayz paired Nico and Kate, neither the festival nor the artists knew they had something immediately in common. Both hail from Canada, and just like that, Team Canada was born!! 🍁

Their process was thoughtful from the very start. Researching the native land and people of Claremore, the two landed on the concept of land stewardship, the idea that the protection of the land is best held in the hands of its native populations.

Kate’s background in mythical creatures led them to the Snawfus, a local cryptid depicted as a white winged deer with plum branches for antlers, said to be a protector of the land whose breath creates the mist that blankets the Ozarks 🦌 The plums featured in the mural are Chickasaw and Cherokee Plums, native to Oklahoma. The portrait depicts Savannah Anderson , a member of Cherokee Nation . Nico flew in early to photograph her, ensuring her representation felt contemporary, authentic, and deeply personal. Savannah’s jewelry was crafted by Cherokee makers Ellie Stead .

Big thank you to Alex Towler-Bliss | Nonprofit Law | OKC for sponsoring “Stewards of the Land”!
