This week’s featured artist is Ralph Thomas and his work Happy Birthday ShaNayNay, oil pastel on paper.

Come see Thomas’ work as well as work by other Black artists at the Lemon Tree/Arts Enter’s table at the Impact Center’s Juneteenth Celebration today from 1:00-6:00 p.m., 1500 Old Cape Charles Road, Cape Charles. ❤️🖤💚

Together, we honor Juneteenth, marking the liberation of enslaved Americans and celebrating an important milestones in our nation's journey toward justice.

Ralph Thomas is an accomplished folk artist whose vibrant paintings celebrate the richness, resilience, and everyday beauty of Black life and culture.

Raised on Durham, North Carolina’s South Side, Thomas developed a passion for art at an early age and later refined his craft while serving in the U.S. Navy.

After retiring from military service and settling in Virginia, Thomas recognized the underrepresentation of African American stories in art and made it his mission to help fill that gap.

His expressive paintings capture family, community, music, faith, and tradition with movement and vivid color. Experience Ralph’s work in person at Juneteenth on Friday or at Lemon Tree Gallery any time we’re open.
