Sheep Incognito Art Gallery

Sheep Incognito Art Gallery Sheep Incognito by Conni Tögel — a sheepish perspective of the human condition. The sheep paintings visualize how much the mind can limit what we see.

Whimsical sheep art, colorful prints, gifts & books beloved by "Flockies" worldwide. Now also helping fellow artists stop blending into the flock and start selling their work Sheep Incognito - a flock of maaahem from the paintbrush of Conni Tögel

Why Sheep? We’ve been asked “Do you ship to Australia?” and “Do you offer layaway plans?” a hundred
times over the last 15 years, but “What’s with the s

heep?” and “Why sheep?” has by far been
the most asked question. My sheep are a lot like people in sheep’s clothing - not the most intelligent or adept creatures,
yet colorful in their personalities and behaviors. Once we remove
those constraints, we can see what is really behind the sheep pictures on canvas. So don’t get misdirected by the “cute” and “whimsical” sheep – read the titles of the paintings and you just
might discover their hidden agenda before they move on towards other pastures...

So here are the Top 10 reasons for sheep ....
1. Sheep are deficient, which makes them perfect models for my “slightly political” series. They deserve some votes...
2. Sheep say Baaaa - anyone that can say that much with just one word is worthy of some
attention (as opposed to some people that talk a lot without anything to say...)
3. Sheep will never make it into the American Idol show - so giving them their very own
platform of fame has become my goal (along with trying to get you to smile)
4. Sheep are ridiculous - always.
5. Sheep are peaceful - they don’t have trigger fingers.
6. Sheep wool is the ultimate high-tech material for everything from house insulation to
soap making. Anything that sophisticated must come from a pretty special factory
(and it runs on bio-fuel, too! The emissions are rather vile, though...)
7. Sheep are quite adept at mowing lawns. And flower beds. And the neighbor’s flowerbeds. And the dog’s food. And anything you really don’t want them eating. Composting machines.
8. Sheep are gullible creatures - as long as there is a bit of corn to munch, they will pretty much
let you make fun of them in any way you like and they won’t mind. Perfect victims for my
paintbrush and canvas (unlike human models...)
9. Sheep think everybody else is really smart. They are right.
10. Sheep have legs. Four of them. Family Pack of Roast Leg of Lamb...yumm.

Yesterday's # SheepQuest included a stop at the Washington County Fair - having never been to a proper american County Fair before, this was quite the experience 😂🥳

From crappy fried fair food, to cows, to SHEEP!!🐏🐑 (Yay for !!), to newborn babies dressed like a cow, to tractor pulls, to little kids napping in the sheep pen: this is indeed THE most american of event things, it seemed.

Here are some pictures of all of it - what a mish-mash of critters, people, food, and characters!

In today's episode of the , we hopped from Vermont to Greenwich NY for a visit to Battenkill Fibers. Angie, one of the owners, was so very sweet in giving us a quick tour of their fiber processing operations - super cool to see all the "Definitely wayyy more than three bags full" of wool going from "smelly sheep fluff" to fully washed, carded, spun, and plied into beautiful yarn.🧶😊

Elke (owner of Wellspring Farm in Burnsville, NC), had brought along some beautiful fleeces from her flock of Jacob and Tunis sheep - so we dropped those off as well. From the looks of things, Battenkill Fiber Mill has their work cut out for them - an ENORMOUS amount of wool there!🤯

Of course, sheep showed up there, too. Well behaved ones, but not very animated.
🤭

That was just the beginning of the day, but since it's late now, I'll post more tomorrow.

Much as expected, Vermont is lovely!
Ot's the perfect mix of Nature, quaint towns, beautiful landscapes, good food, and VERY nice people.
We have been bopping around Londonderry VT, stopping in pretty places, eating lovely food, browsing some really nice shops that are - surprise! - NOT Walmart, or Target, or some other form of mass-produced merchandise temples. So very refreshing!

We stopped by Green Mountain Spinnery to oogle the pretty yarns, but more interesting to me, their tarn spinning operations facility. Very nice to see all the mechanical things - something AI simply does not have in grip yet.
My favorite bit was the yarn skeins hanging from the ceiling and old wooden spools. 🧶

On the way we stopped for some pie at Grandma Miller's Pies and Pastries - oh yes, buy them all! They are fantastic!🥧

Also along the way, we found this cute little yarn shop Loose Ladies just a few minutes too late to go in, they closed. 🥺

We also stopped in the woods on the way to collect some birch bark for a few projects to try out.

And then, we spent almost two hours browsing around the The Vermont Country Store. So cool to see all the old store furnishings, toys, and various "old-timey classics"
that were part of my world when I was a lot younger. It was very therapeutic to see all that, and, at least for those few moments, feel like the world is still somewhat normal.😊

So here's a photo dump of a variety of things from yesterday...So VERY nice to finally put real experiences to what my imagination was expecting in .

ROADTRIP!

Off on a with Elke from Farm in Burnsville, NC.
Heading North to Vermont, which has been on my bucket list forever. It's already been "sheeploads" of fun so far - stopping for fun things, interesting places, and yes: sheepishnesses (or porkiness, if that's the more prevalent thing in that moment).

It's just lovely to escape the heat and humidity in SC for a bit - and having a lovely time doing "girly travel times" with a best friend. 😊

Whazzuuuuup!?

This stunning beauty is the opener for another bucket list item of mine.
Stay tuned here for some fun adventures and photos!

It started yesterday with a very pretty drive from Spartanburg to Burnsville, SC, with a quick stop to grab some fresh bagels from 's Bagels in Fletcher (oh, EVER so good! 10/10 recommend!).

Together with Elke from Farm, we are heading to Vermont and New York for some sheepish business she needs to attend to there.

Before we left, I got to meet this super sweet llama "Cheyenne".
And that was just the beginning of this great adventure - it's a sign of things to come... more later!

New ACEO is up for grabs!
Start your small original art collection with one of my small ACEO cards (Art Cards Editions & Originals, 2.5"x3.5" collector card size is the global standard on these).
This form of are making a huge comeback right now. There are quite a few groups here on FB where collectors, traders, and artists connect, to add to their collection, or present their newest work.
Another good source to start, it eBay or Etsy, alongside a few other websites that specialize in these. I've been creating these since the early 2000's - and still love painting them, because they fit into my own card collecting album.

This one is a one of a kind watercolor painting - piece #1 of a small series of Halloween Sheep I am painting this week. There will be 5 of them in the full set.

$29, comment "sold" to start collecting the set!

He fits right in with the humans here, too.
My daughter picked this kitten out of a whole batch of perfectly normal cats. He's cute. He's sweet. He's also very odd.

He was purring the whole time he was hanging there.

Here is the finished necklace I made this week.
Some things turned out pretty good - other parts I'll do different next time.
The important part was getting it started, and getting it finished 🤭🫣

Some beads I've been working on - this is a test run for a rune stone style necklace series I want to make.
Tomorrow I'll be painting them, then assembling all of it, when everything is dry.
