We’re proud to be collaborating once again with The_And Music , the developers of the SoundShirt, to make Flamingo more accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences.

The SoundShirt translates sound and movement into real-time tactile sensations, allowing the wearer to physically feel the sounds of the performance through vibrations. The vest contains 28 sensors distributed across the abdomen, chest, back and arms, transforming sound into a tangible experience.

Here’s a little peek from our testing day! We’re incredibly proud to be part of the ongoing development of this technology and to help create more inclusive experiences through the performing arts.

We’re also deeply grateful to be making this possible once again with the support of our partner . Together, we continue to explore new ways to make theatre accessible to more people.
Because theatre should be an experience for everyone.

MEET
ESTELLE MCGUINNESS aka. Flying with Est

My name is Estelle McGuinness and I am a 24 year old performing artist. I was born in Sydney, Australia, and began my dance training at a young age. In May of 2025, I completed my professional training at Arts Umbrella’s Graduate Program in Vancouver, BC, under the direction of Artemis Gordon. During my time at Arts Umbrella, I studied and performed works by Crystal Pite, William Forsythe, Sharon Eyal, Azure Barton, Mats Ek, Marco Goecke, and more. Post graduating, I have re-based myself in Amsterdam, to further my artistic growth both as a performer and choreographer.
Most recently, I joined IID under Remy Tilburg for their upcoming production of Flamingo, which begins touring this November. I’m lucky to have a platform where I can continue trusting my choices as a performer, while working under a director who encourages personal interpretation and exploration.

I see each day in this process as an opportunity to renew, unfold, and shed old feathers. I am giving myself more wriggle room for humor and lightness, while also living within a much larger, demanding creature. Every day I step into this landscape, I am given the chance to be a little more free, within myself and within my bird.

MEET
BJÖRN BAKKER aka. BBL (brazilian beak lift)

My name is Björn Bakker and I am a 26-year-old contemporary dance artist based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After discovering dance through my background in theatre, I trained at Codarts University of the Arts and the Amsterdam University of the Arts, where I received my BA in Modern Theatre Dance. I have performed works in the Netherlands and abroad by artists including Danielle Agami (Ate9), Ivgi & Greben, Andreas Hannes, Amos Ben-Tal, Lotem Regev, Connor Schumacher, Dana Raz, Krisztina de Châtel, and Nicole Beutler. Alongside my work as a freelance artist and company dancer, I develop my own choreographic works and costume designs, exploring the relationship between movement, visual identity, and performance.

Gratefully rejoining IID for Flamingo has allowed me to fly even higher and discover new layers within the company’s distinctive movement language. I’ve loved exploring the balance between precision and play, and discovering how the smallest details can bring an entire character to life. As BBL, I’ve found just how much personality can hide in a tilted head, a sharpened gaze or a lifted beak. The process has reminded me of the joy of staying curious, embracing the unexpected and allowing myself to explore beyond the familiar. From sharpening my feathers in the rehearsal room to bringing these crisp and curious characters to the stage, Flamingo has been a playful reminder of how much there is to discover when you dare to fly.

ROBIN KROES aka. It’s Bwitney Beak

My name is Robin Kroes, and I am the artistic director of IID Company and also dancing in Flamingo.

My character, It’s Bwitney Beak, is a tribute to my younger self. The little girl who dreamed of being in the spotlight, Not out of ego, but out of a pure fascination with expressing and becoming whoever I wanted to be. A part of me that has always existed, even when life has taken me in different directions.

The process of Flamingo has been a whirlwind. Eleven months ago, I became a mother, and over the past months I have been navigating between building this production as an artistic director (and wearing 100 other hats)and finding my way back to the stage as a dancer.

It has been confronting, overwhelming at times, but also incredibly liberating. A journey of rediscovering myself. In many ways, Flamingo feels like a rebirth.

And perhaps that is exactly what lies at the heart of my vision for IID Company. To create a world of our own, where imagination has no boundaries and where we dare to make choices that aren’t always understood, accepted or shared by everyone. Because I believe that true artistic freedom begins when we stop creating to be understood and start creating from the pure joy of possibility.

The kind of freedom we experience as children, when dreams are still limitless, the impossible doesn’t exist, and we haven’t yet learned to question how far we are allowed to go.

With IID, I want to protect that feeling. To build my own playground, my own dreamworld, where curiosity leads, imagination rules, and anything can happen.

ALICE PIERI aka. Alys left no egg

My name is Alice Pieri, 24 years old, born and raised in Ravenna, Italy. After completing my bachelor’s degree in dance at Codarts, I joined Scapino Ballet Rotterdam as a stagiaire. Currently I am based in The Netherlands as a freelance artist and dance teacher.

Flamingo creates a space where caution becomes curiosity, conflict becomes connection, and unique physicality becomes play. I’m excited to merge my femininity and masculinity in order to embrace all sides of myself so that they coexist harmoniously. I take the risk to step onto one leg and trust my strength along with the people by my side who will help me balance. I love my flock !
