Busy last week. Busy this week. Hopefully makes for a busy future. So grateful to be doing workshops at the same time while painting, but it does distract a bit from the painting. Still working and creating…just not painting. But overall: amazing week. Photos to come. Project announcement happening soon! Just so lucky to be doing it!

What’s the difference between high quality paints and middle of the road paints? These new .grahamco walnut oil paints that we have just brought in are worth the extra effort to bring them all the way the Herring Cove.

They were the starting point for this portrait and moving the paint around is a joy. But that’s just my opinion. Thanks M. Graham for doing what you do. Can’t wait to bring in the next lot!

Just completed an Abstract for a museum proposal. This was a photo to accompany my artist statement. It is of me, in Italy, standing firmly between a doorway that was once the entry to a cathedral, until a landslide took most of it away. We are both standing stoically: part of us firmly planted while what is outside of the frame is shaky. A hyphenated moment. A hyphenated person.

So many layered things in the short video I took in Roma. This spot , on the steps of the Museo dell’Ara Pacis. A significant cultural monument and museum housing the archaeological museum is dedicated to protecting and displaying the ancient Ara Pacis Augustae (Altar of Augustan Peace). And below the same building is a spectacular exhibition of impressionist works all from the Detroit Institute of Arts.

I visited the Detroit Institute in the early 2000s and could not believe what was on display. It was the first time I met Diego Rivera.

So much to consider and such a tiny spot on earth.

Happening this Tuesday: I'm going to attempt to run 50km (in a row) with the hopes of raising $100/km for a total of $5,000 for the Chebucto Family Centre. I have some great people joining me along the way and so far we've raised over $3,000! BUT - still a long way to go. So, if you can, please visit https://www.canadahelps.org/en/pages/50-for-50-4/ to donate. Thanks so much for you encouragement and support!
