πŸ€ GIANT RAT slicking back my hair for another Quick Rat Facts πŸ€

The Maned Rat's excellent hairdo isn't just for show! These stylish rats rub themselves against the 'poison arrow' or Acokanthera Schimperi tree, which coats their hairs in the poison that sits on its bark. When threatened, they can cause their hairs to stand up on end, which makes any would-be predators supremely sick or even die. Weird choice of pomade but I can't lie and say they don't make it work!

Have you got your hair done yet? Another Workshop is tomorrow night! 7:15-8:15PM at BPAC, 501/503 Soldiers Hill. Physicality and Movement are our focus this week!

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me!

πŸ€ GIANT RAT rolling in with my thick raincoat πŸ€

It's true! Us rats are mildly colour-blind or perhaps colour-weakness would be a better way to put it? The condition is called Protanomaly, caused by the cones in our eyes detecting too much green light and very little red light. We can still see red, but it's significantly dimmer than other colours we can see.

There is one thing I can see clearly - Wednesday night is workshop night! 7:15-8:15PM at BPAC, 501/503 Soldiers Hill. Scrunch your eyes and wrinkle your brow - Concentration and Responding are the topics for this week!

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me!

πŸ€ Hello! GIANT RAT here with more Quick Rat Facts!πŸ€

It should be of no surprise that us rats have big families, with an average of 6-8 pups/kittens per litter - although sometimes upto 16 is not unusual. Pups gestate for about 21 days and are born blind and deaf, reaching maturity after roughly 10 weeks of age. On average, female rats can give birth once every 3-4 weeks, meaning that in a year, one female rat can give birth from 30 upto 100 pups per year! As you can imagine, we need to book big function rooms for family gatherings!

Tomorrow night is another workshop, 7:15-8:15PM at BPAC, 501/503 Soldiers Hill. Ready to step into someone else's shoes? Characters and Expression will be our focus this week!

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me!

πŸ€ Scurrying through the internet with more Quick Rat Facts, is me, GIANT RATπŸ€

It's of no surprise that rats can be found in all-over the world (except Antarctica). The two most common species of rat that can be found are the Black Rat (Rattus rattus) and Brown Rat (Rattus norvegicus). Historically, the Black Rat has origins linking it back to India and the Brown Rat to China and Siberia. The key difference to spot to differentiate is in their fur - Black Rats have grey/brown fur on their heads, while Brown Rats have (as the name might suggest) brown fur.

Speaking of rats, a workshop is 7:15-8:15PM at BPAC, 501/503 Soldiers Hill. Bring along your singing voice, this week's focus is SingSong and Musicality!

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me!

πŸ€ GIANT RAT with another round of Quick Rat Facts!πŸ€

Talk about being tickled pink! When happy, us rats show it through our droopy and pink ears. The pinkness is caused through increased blood flow near the ears.

My ears are positively pink in anticipation of tomorrow's workshop Characters and Responding, where we'll investigate how to use characterisation to respond to platforms and other characters in a scene.

As always, the workshop is 7:15-8:15PM at BPAC, 501/503 Soldiers Hill.

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me!

πŸ€Can you feel it? More Rat Facts are approaching with me, GIANT RATπŸ€

Because rats are crepuscular (a term cloud spotters will be familiar with!) animals, meaning active at dawn and dusk, having sensitive whiskers is a big deal! We brush, tap our whiskers (a process called 'whisking') against objects to find out an objects size, shape orientation and texture.

Just like rats using whisking to orientate themselves, in impro we use Spontaneity to orientate ourselves and support us to making memorable scenes and characters, which is why it is the focus of our next workshop!

RATNEST This Wednesday at 7:15-8:15PM at BPAC, 501/503 Soldiers Hill.

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me.

πŸ€GIANT RAT is back from some training with a RATNEST RECAP πŸ€

At our last workshop, we looked had lots of fun getting into characters and learning the key to good accepting (which leads to good impro!). This week, our focus is on Platforms! Just like any well-built building having a good foundation, a good scene relies on having a solid platform to provide stability!

RATNEST workshop tomorrow night! Same time and place; 7:15-8:15PM, Room 1 1861 Building at BPAC.

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me.

πŸ€GIANT RAT wriggling into more Quick Rat Facts!πŸ€

Talk about being flexible! Most varieties of rats can fit into exceedingly small spaces, small enough to fit an Australian 10c piece or $2 coin. Just like rats, impro can fit just about anywhere and this week we will be squeezing into Character and Accepting exercises, with lots of short-form platform and scene building games.

The next RATNEST workshop is this Wednesday night , April 1st 7:15-8:15PM - No tricks I promise!

Tickets are $10, cash/card at the door or via Humanitix. πŸ”—πŸŒ³ in bio for online tickets and to see where else you can find me!
