Meet Riaan van Zyl, an artist whose experimental practice transforms unconventional materials into captivating works that explore movement, time, and perception. Step into a world of rich blue-greens, layered surfaces, and quiet transformation.

This Sunday, RK Contemporary opens Verdigris, a group exhibition inspired by the beautiful blue-green patina that forms on copper over time, a symbol of change, resilience, and the beauty found in the passage of time.

Bringing together ceramics, paintings, and prints, Verdigris explores colour as atmosphere, material, memory, and metaphor, inviting viewers to discover the many ways artists interpret surface, depth, and transformation.

Some artworks don’t just ask to be seen, they ask to be felt.

Katja Abbott creates immersive, dreamlike worlds where animals become quiet companions, guiding us between the conscious and unconscious. Working across clay, textiles and mixed media, her practice explores transformation, ecology and our relationship with the natural world.

In an age where we are increasingly disconnected from nature, Katja’s work invites us to rediscover intuition, instinct and a more embodied way of being.

From childhood sketches to finely detailed acrylic paintings, Helen Weber’s artistic journey is one of rediscovery, patience, and finding beauty in the everyday.

Born in Zimbabwe and now based in the Riebeek Valley, Helen returned to her creative practice during the COVID-19 pandemic after a successful career in hospitality and years of international travel. Today, her intimate paintings celebrate light, landscapes, and the quiet moments that often pass us by.

We’re thrilled to welcome Helen Weber to Solo Studios 2026, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit her studio, meet the artist, and experience her beautiful work firsthand.
