A 90 day warning was just given to remove endangered species protections on wolves in the United States. Wolf-livestock conflict is some of the least herd concern for ranchers in the West, yet the order is called the Supporting America's Ranchers executive order. Not only are both Grey Wolves and Mexican Grey Wolves protected species, but they are both critical in their respective ecological roles and the impact that hunting them would have on the food webs in the US would change the landscape as we know it.
The reason that they want federal endangered protections gone on these animals is because they want to destroy the habitats they live in for development of roads, data centers, government facilities, and other infrastructure that is currently unable to be developed due to the protections of these Wolves.
This Saturday, I will be at the PA Wolf Sanctuary for Wolf Awareness Day. There, I'll be educating people about wolves, wolf conservation, and the action that needs to be taken to protect these absolutely critical animals in the United States.
