Auditions and workshops coming up

John,

I am the theatre director at West Liberty and the College rep for the WV Theatre Association. We are holding a professional event called CONNECTIONS AUDITIONS on October 3rd at West Liberty.

Tentatively, we will start around 9:30 with some workshops (headshot/resumes, auditioning techniques, etc.) and then will hold a professional cattle call audition with professional theatre companies and graduate schools in attendance. The companies will post callbacks afterward and work with students they may be interested in for the future.

We will also be providing a 'respondent' for each flight of auditioners (like 20 in a group) who will provide some immediate feedback to everyone, so if a student is not called back, they can at least get some feedback about their work.

The WVTA board has not finalized everything yet, like fees, in part because this is just our second year, we did not do it last year, and since we are so close to border states, the first year we didn't have any reason to invite out of state students. It is likely that out of state students would be charged a slightly higher fee (last time in-state students paid $15) but we are trying to keep it a nominal fee for everyone so it might be more like $20 to $25.

Our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream is set in a Woodstock/hippie-inspired world; outdoors, semi-improvised, and a little chaotic. The cast has never rehearsed together. The first run-through will be opening night. It's free and happening outside the JC Williams Center, April24-26 at 6pm. Bring a blanket andapicnic. It'll be groovy!
