I got hooked on John Anderson in 1980 with “She Just Started Liking Cheatin’ Songs”. He was one of my all time favorite country singers. His voice and singing style was uniquely his own. I opened for him on a snowy night in Lubbock, Texas in 1983 as “Swingin’” was at the top of the charts. The crowd was on fire and so was John and his band. My first artist cut as a songwriter was John Anderson. What a thrill hearing John sing my song “Burnin’ Up The Road” in the movie “8 Seconds”. We played several shows together over the years and I always made an effort to visit with John and I’m glad I did. Thanks for the music and the memories. RIP

Played a great event this week with Aaron Barker, Kelly Archer, Delaney Ramsdell, Abbey Rowe, and Frank Ray for the 13th annual “Nashville Lights” to help raise money for the Cleburne Education Foundation.

I met Stevie in the mid 80’s at Love Field in Dallas. He was wearing a fedora and walking with a cane. He looked like the rock star he was. Standing alone I introduced myself and asked if he would sign my Soul to Soul album that I had dubbed onto a Memorex cassette. I still have it. Thanks to Bill Carter, later I would get to hang out and tour with Stevie and join him onstage with Bill and the Blame on “Crossfire. My hero … gone too soon. Today would’ve been his 72nd birthday. RIP
