On July 10-11, 2026 The MIDDLE TENNESSEE SANTA FAMILY will welcome professional Santas, Mrs. Clauses from across the country for a Christmas in July Professional Development Workshop in Franklin, Tennessee.

We will discuss professionalism, ethics, public trust, and child safety. In addition to educational venues for growing portrayal businesses to serve their communities.

There will be community service projects for veterans while others assemble bikes for at-risk children. Only a part of Middle Tennessee Santa Family’s ongoing commitment to the community.

There will be a special dinner and a panel discussion led by a Dias of “Hall of Fame” members who will discuss how the role of Claus portrayal is changing, preserving traditions, maintaining professional excellence, and encourage integrity and accountability.

The role of Santa extends far beyond a charming figure in a red suit. It is why we strive for excellence in ourselves & our community.

For Those Planning Holiday Events,

As you prepare to bring the magic of the Christmas season to your community, business, or organization, I’d like to share something important from the perspective of a professional Christmas performer.

Not all Santas and Mrs. Clauses are the same.

While many individuals wear the suit with good intentions, there is a significant difference between someone who dresses as Santa and someone who has been trained and educated in performance, child interaction, and safety.

Professional Christmas performers understand that what we do goes far beyond appearance. We are entrusted with moments that matter deeply to children and families, and that responsibility requires preparation, awareness, and care.

For example, trained performers follow guidelines that help protect both the child and the performer, children are never required or encouraged to sit on laps, hands are always placed in safe, appropriate, and visible positions, interactions are guided by the child’s comfort level and consent, awareness of emotional cues, trauma, and special circumstances is essential, background checks and professional standards are part of doing this work responsibly.

These practices are not about removing the magic, they are what allow the magic to exist safely.

When hiring for your event, I encourage you to ask questions, what training or education has this performer received, do they follow child safety guidelines, are background checks part of their professional practice, do they have experience working with children in a variety of situations.

The Christmas season is built on trust. Families trust that the environments we create are safe, welcoming, and respectful.

By choosing trained, professional performers, you are not only enhancing the quality of your event, you are helping protect the very children who believe in what we represent.
