Now playing Sara Dosa’s TIME AND WATER — her elegiac followup to her volcanic 2022 documentary FIRE OF LOVE reflects on how glaciers create an archive of deep time within their ice over millions of years — likening it to the intergenerational memory of her subject, Icelandic writer Andri Snær Magnason, who is tasked to write the eulogy for Okjökull, the first glacier to be declared dead due to climate change. This year’s Q***r Classics includes five films that each shine a light on a corner of existence that pulses with life and would appreciate the validation. These stories are witnesses and records of living as a subversive act. Resourcefulness, enthusiasm, patient endurance, sharp focus and sincerity are all survival mechanisms as well as attributes which benefit social animals. This quintet of films is not a retrospective, but rather a reinforcement, strengthening all who undertake the experience.
