September 11 is a day etched into our collective memory. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the fear and uncertainty that rippled across our nation and around the world.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. A quarter century has passed, yet the memories, grief, courage, and lessons of that day remain with us. Twenty-five years later, we remember.

And as we remember, the words of 1 Chronicles 16:11 speak with renewed urgency:

“Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.”

These words were offered to a people who understood uncertainty and transition. David reminds Israel that their security ultimately rested not in their own strength, resources, or ability to predict what would happen next, but in the presence and power of God. That message still speaks.

Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chronicles 16:11 (NIV) September 11 is a day etched into our collective memory. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the fear and...

In remembrance of September 11, 2001:

O God, our hope and refuge,
in our distress we come quickly to you...

We come remembering those who lost their lives
in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania...

We come remembering
and we come in hope,
not in ourselves, but in you...

In commemorating this tragedy,
we give you thanks for your presence
in our time of need
and we seek to worship you in Spirit and in truth,
our guide and our guardian. Amen.

Excerpt of prayer by the Rev. Jeremy Pridgeon, First United Methodist Church, Panama City, Florida, via Discipleship Ministries, The United Methodist Church.

Together with Metro Parks, we recently celebrated the completion of the north side revitalization project. This multi-million dollar effort unveiled new pathways and park entrance along with two exciting new amenities: our new nonprofit Croquet Cafe and Event Pavilion -- the first structure built in the Park since 1963. Mayor Freddie O'Connell joined in cutting the ribbon at both locations.

The good news... both the Cafe and Event Pavilion are now open and welcoming guests. The Cafe's current hours are M-F 10A-5P, and Sa-Su 10-6P serving coffee, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, ice cream, snacks, and more. The new Event Pavilion is available to host your event right on the banks of Lake Watauga. Discover more about each place at https://buff.ly/I3HfimG.

We'd like to extend special gratitude to our lead gift supporters: HCA Healthcare Foundation, The Dettwiller Foundation, The Frist Foundation, Sandra Schatten Foundation, The Marlene and Spencer Hays Foundation, and Vanderbilt University. We're excited for the community to experience these beautiful places in Centennial Park.
