René Millán has trained and coached actors ranging from seasoned professionals to beginners. He has taught everywhere from the Yale School of Drama to community outreach programs and public schools. He teaches film, T.V., and theatre acting techniques, as well as skills in audition technique, and physical actor training based on the Suzuki Method. He draws upon his deep knowledge and understanding
of the concepts of master acting teachers and theorists (Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov, Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner) and synthesizes these teachings and his own approach with a powerful and robust training that will allow the actor to develop and trust their own process. René teaches actors how to connect the mind and the body to allow rich character portrayals to take center stage.

This is a class that I plan on making a weekly practice!
I’ve been teaching acting for 25 years. I’ve been a professional actor for over 25 years. Through my career my approach to teaching actors has grown and evolved but a couple of things have remained the same: I want actors to know that they have within them everything it takes to act brilliantly by virtue of being human and that actors can practice their art form in a state of flow.
If you are in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area, you are invited to a free “Acting in Flow” introductory, in person class. All experience and ability levels are welcome. This class will be for people ages 16 and up. This will become a weekly training that incorporates scene study with physical actor training based on the Suzuki Method.
When: Thursday, July 21 at 6:30pm
Where: Global Education Center
4822 Charlotte Ave., Nashville Studio B
DM me if you have any questions, or if you’d like to join us!

I had the pleasure of teaching Suzuki based movement to the 2022 The Nashville Shakespeare Festival apprentice program. What a great group of actors. I feel we all got a lot out of the experience. I’ll be back this week with this group to coach Shakespeare monologues.
I spent five weeks in Mazatlán, Mexico shooting an indie film with dear friends of mine. I miss my beautiful cast and crew and I’m excited to see how it turns out. I’m back in Nashville and ready to get back to teaching. More projects to come!
I have the privilege of directing this amazing play with an inspiring ensemble. If you’re in the Nashville area, come out and see us in April! The Theater Bug

Nashville’s film and television scene are growing and we want you to be ready. The study and ex*****on of good acting craft are necessary for acting on stage or in front of a camera. Acting for the camera requires a different skill set from knowing camera angles, shot sizes, eye lines, marks and continuity, to name a few. In this class, you will gain experience in front of the camera so that you’re ready to ace your on-camera auditions and when you get on set.

Mickey Guyton just sang the national anthem and she knocked it out of the park! I had so much fun shooting her music video for “Remember Her Name.” She is the real deal and the country music scene better take notice. Representation matters!
Calm your mind, let go, follow the impulse and pleasantly surprise yourself with the art that flows.
I love that I can open up my SAG/AFTRA magazine and see the name of a soul sister being recognized for her masterful work. Love you, Kimberly Scott!
I’m in my studio working on a couple of new projects. More to come soon!
For me, whether it’s in acting, teaching, or in life, setting intentions have been a more productive, flexible and compassionate way to go. I feel that intentions focus on what we want while being grateful for what we have and gives space for true inspiration. Resolutions, on the other hand, seem to leave no room for error, focus on lack, and are lead by ego. Resolutions also have an 8% success rate. Let me know what you think!
Voiceover work is a growing and evolving industry. It is more essential than ever for actors to know the ins and outs of voiceover and strengthen their skills in voice recording and auditioning.
When I’m teaching actors my intention is guide them to discover their process and to train their whole instrument. Obviously the voice is part of that instrument. In voiceover work, we as actors not only work on expanding vocal range and finding the essence of a character, but we also do the acting work like finding beats, moment to moment intentions and actions, etc. No matter how you slice it, voiceover work on an animated series or for a commercial for a small business, is still acting!
A few months back I got the opportunity to be in the music video for Mickey Guyton’s single “Remeber Her Name.” Thank you to Mickey Guyton, directors and brother and sister duo Alexa Kingopoulos and Stephen Kingopoulos and the rest of the cast and crew for a great shoot. Thank you also to my agent Melinda Eisnaugle of The Avenue Agency Model & Talent and my dear friend Cori Anne Laemmel.
I’m very proud to be in a powerful music video by a powerful Black woman busting down huge barriers in the Nashville’s country music ecosystem.

What does it take to book an acting job for a film or television show? What does an actor do to prepare before they get on set? When on set, how does an actor maneuver through a maze of grips, P.A.s, and other on-set personnel and deliver a performance that is of the highest quality, honesty and organic depth?
In this class, we will master skills for:
-acing the audition
-on-set terminology and culture
-the powerful energy behind stillness
-developing a consistent, multi-dimensional character while shooting scenes out of sequence
By the end of this class you should feel confident enough to book an on-camera acting job and begin working on-set like an experienced pro. Join us and find your on-camera potential!

What an astoundingly talented woman...
"Anger dies--at least as far as you are concerned--if it fails to find a home, a target, or a victim. Don't be any of those things: Don't become the recipient of the poisoned arrow. The anger will leave you and return to the recipient. This was something my mother taught me, and it was, I guess, my first realization of what we call karma. So I don't send anything out that I wouldn't want to keep around the house, so to speak: I give to the world what I would most want at all times. I try to give fairness, kindness, patience, understanding. Anger finds no shelter with me." --Julie Harris/Interview with James Grissom/1991/

CBS is planning a one-hour season finale for Robin Williams' The Crazy Ones. It was one of three sitcoms built around big established stars this season, all three of which suffered in the ratings.
