It is a heartbreaking day for all of us here in Nashville and across Tennessee. Dolly Parton has been a part of our lives for as long as many of us can remember, and her loss will be felt tremendously.

Dolly was so much more than a country music icon. She was a gifted songwriter, entertainer, philanthropist and an incredibly smart businesswoman who showed the world that you could dream big without ever forgetting where you came from. From her humble beginnings in the Tennessee mountains, she built an extraordinary life and career through talent, determination, faith, hard work and a whole lot of Dolly sparkle.

She was tough. She was wise. She was funny. And beneath all those rhinestones was a heart that seemed big enough for everyone.

We love you, Dolly. Rest in peace on the softest, fluffiest, cotton-filled bed Heaven can find for you. You earned it.

Thank you for the music, the laughter, the inspiration and for showing the world just how far a Tennessee mountain girl with a dream could go.
