50 trips around the sun.
This year hits different. It’s my birthday and Father’s Day — and I’m sitting in the blessing I prayed for my whole life.

At 50, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about milestones, money, or accolades. It’s about love. Health. Presence. My greatest gift isn’t something wrapped — it’s my wife and our son, who just turned 2. A family that laughs together, grows together, and carries me through it all.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Here’s to legacy, love, and the next beautiful chapter. 🙏🏾💙

ICYMI: Back in after an incredible semester in launching , I had the privilege of interviewing the talented for the House Session with Coco Jones at Soho Nashville. ♥️🎄✨

This intimate holiday event was nothing short of magical, with a packed house filled with Coco’s biggest fans, close friends, and family. From her amazing holiday performance to a dynamic Q&A where she shared her favorite holiday traditions, the day was truly unforgettable!

Big thanks to the incredible team that made it happen:

My office this evening.....

7/18/24 I was honored to testify at the Tennessee Legislators' ‘Freedom to Be Heard’ field hearing on diversity at Fisk University!

During my testimony I shared my experience building Lovenoise and highlighted key findings from two research projects I worked on: the Greater Nashville Music Census and the Nashville Independent Venues Study. These studies offer valuable insights, but it's up to us to use the data for change!

Check out the full Nashville Independent Venues Study at link in my bio.

The Greater Nashville Music Census will be fully released this fall.

and to be a part of this story...this Music City story! Thank you and all the individuals and sponsors that helped make this project happen! The first 20 years of Lovenoise flew by. Excited about the next 20 years!

・・・
Last week, we introduced you to Lovenoise. Now we’re zooming in on exactly how they pushed through barriers that had long existed in Nashville. We’re also going to travel further back in time, to the heyday of Nashville’s Black music scene, and the role the city played in unraveling it. Then we’ll meet the first generation of R&B players, hip-hop MCs and neo-soul singer-songwriters who found what they’d been looking for at those Lovenoise Sunday nights.

Slide 1-2: The five Lovenoise founders, Antoine Nunn (aka Moe), Eric Holt, LaSalle Chapman, Chip Hockett and Bryce Page, hadn’t gotten together to look at their old photos and flyers in forever... until they convened in WNXP’s Sonic Cathedral last year.
Slide 3: Edward Kindall is a storehouse of stories about the history of community, commerce and the once-thriving music scene on Jefferson Street. He literally wrote the book on it.
Slide 4: Elijah (aka D.D.) and Rick Holt were instrumental in Audiofonix, the band that helped set the tone of freewheeling experimentation and expression in the early days of Lovenoise’s Sunday night hangs at the Bar Car. The long-shuttered venue now serves as office space.
Slide 5: Kyle Whalum is a bassist who’s backed Katy Perry in Vegas, Kelly Clarkson on TV, Miley Cyrus on the Grammys and a slew of other artists on big stages. Twenty years ago, when he was just getting started, he played in the live, improvisational hip-hop band Audiofonix at Lovenoise Sunday nights. (And he and Jewly have run several trail races together, including one in L.A. last year.)
Slide 6: Kenny Smoov starting running the show at Nashville R&B station 92Q in the early days of Lovenoise, and teamed up with them to start the Lovenoise Radio Hour, which regularly put local artists on the air.
