As we work on bringing this album to life. I just wanted to express admiration to a few co-writers who I was lucky to work with. Irene Kelley is such a bluegrass genius, and we got together one morning when a hummingbird had visited me on my front porch. I took her traditional roots vibe and gave it a touch of me... :) I caught the cool badass Sophie Gault in the valley of a breakup and we wrote "50 Dollars" a rootsy little downer in my kitchen on a bright day. Finally I never thought I'd record "Getting Away With Something" written with Sally Jill Barris because she had recorded such a great version of it. But dang I"m glad I did... it's coming out pretty special. I've recorded co-writes with Sally before and she has such a beautiful innate sense of melody. I love love love writing alone but also love love love co-writing with people I"m drawn to. It's also worth mentioning that my tune "Girl In the Sky" that Julie Christensen cut on her "Cardinal" album finally gets it's Amelia treatment... Again, Julie's version was so powerful I had to give it some years.

Roots/Americana songwriter Amelia White is based in Nashville.

Her music straddles rock, country and folk and she’s been described as a “Lucinda Williams sandwich with a Tom Petty, Aimee Mann bun.”

Her latest album is LOVE I SWORE, produced by veteran Nashville songwriter Kim Richey.

Back in April I spent a few hours w and her camera. Going through them today -so many cool ones. Most will be saved for '27 when I release this gem of an album I'm still working on with Molly Thomas and a buncha feely musicians. I"m appreciating that the collection is not all smiles. I mean yeah smiling is great but the honest truth is a frown when I play, and I hate it when people tell me to smile cuz I'm prettier...
I also see some well earned wrinkles here, FFF Yeah!!! Stacie is great.

Yeah dude!!!

The year is almost half gone. The Catalyze grant from Mid-America Arts Alliance makes the next six months an opportunity. There are workshops, festivals, and gigs I have not pursued due to cost. There are tools I have not used, memberships and associations I have not joined. This grant will make many of those things possible.

Many of you good folks have asked if I am gonna make another record, and it is certainly tempting. However, I truly believe I made an amazing record in 2025 that more folks need to hear. Getting my stories in front of some of those folks is going to be the focus for the rest of 2026. So...

Songwriter friends: First - Let's do some shows together! Second - What has worked for you? How do you use whatever promotional budget you have?

Friends and Fans: Where should I go, who should I play for? Maybe in your town? Listening rooms, house shows, FESTIVALS... anywhere folks come to hear new stories and new storytellers.

I know you guys are here because you love me or because one of my stories felt a little like one of yours. Help me use these resources in a way that can grow this community and share those stories.

Check out India Ramey’s new album! It’s blowing up and well deserved. I exercised to it today and it will get ya going. The vein of dry humored “don’t fff w/ me feminism “ is so good during this time of patriarchy BS. People don’t realize how hard artists like India work- and how much it means when ya listen and take it into your starving soul! Art forever y’all!!!
