So happy to be home today with my fur and human fam.
Linda McRae and I had an excellent run and the culmination was a really fun and musically in sink show at one of my fave clubs, Godfrey Daniels. I talk a lot about the community and humanity on the road, and how it helps me see the good in this world. What I haven't dug into is the joy of playing night after night with another musical partner and feeling that mesh that evolves over time. As I've gown older and maybe a millimeter wiser I've pushed myself to be a side person. It's daunting of course in Nashville where instrumentalists rule. But by starting on the road, I felt I had a little anonymity and grace. I've learned my touring partners songs and pushed myself to add something simple ,complimentary, and beautiful. It's been such a game changer in terms of my growth as an artist. So much of being on stage is being inside the song, and at the same time, with the audience. I can only do that when I relax, and I can only relax when I feel competent so it can be a catch 22. But what the hell I've learned to make mistakes in public and practice like crazy in private and trust myself. Holy Moly, This music stuff is life changing. Luv ya'll. Keep the faith in the good. AND man, I can't thank all the venues and humans that helped this last week and half fly.
