Looking through these photos, there are some serious rock stars in here. 🎸
One of these photos takes me right back to the session where we wrote “Pinky Promise” on Roy Acuff Blvd. on Music Row. That was one of those songwriting sessions I’ll never forget. A dream moment.
Looking back, I’m also reminded of how we just kept getting it done, even during the time when the world shut down. We started writing songs over Zoom, something that really wasn’t very common before then, and it opened up a whole new way to collaborate. We still write through video today.
But I’ll always love being in the room together. There’s just nothing like an in-person songwriting session, throwing ideas around, chasing a lyric and watching a song come to life.
Some of the talented people in these photos include Chuck Thomas, Scott Barrier, Greg Wilson, Erik Halbig, Heather Hickox, Billy McDowell, Jessi Pugh, the late Craig Wilson, and Tolan Shaw. I’m thankful for every song, every session, every friendship and every memory along the way.
And for me, songwriting has an even bigger purpose now.
It’s about Giving Guitars.
It’s about using music to give back.
It’s about putting guitars into the hands of people who need hope, encouragement and something positive to hold onto.
