The Rukkus Room

The Rukkus Room Welcome to the home of Grammy award-winning Jamie Tate, known for good vibes & incredible recordings. The studios are a combined 8,000 square feet.

The Rukkus Room is a multi-room facility opened in 2004 that was originally designed from the ground up as a recording studio by Gene Lawson of Lawson Microphones. Each studio is a completely separate building, which allows for total isolation. Before the consoles were even purchased, the studio's calendar was completely filled with a year's worth of sessions. Shortly after opening, Jack Ingram re

corded his #1 hit single, "Wherever You Are" as well as several follow up singles that charted in the top five. Other big acts followed, such as Thomas Rhett, Brooks and Dunn, Taylor Swift, Justin Moore, and Alan Jackson, all of which earned multiple platinum sales awards and numerous #1 singles. Owner Jamie Tate is a Grammy and Emmy award-winning recording engineer, mixer and producer. Jamie has worked on many popular recordings including dozens of hit records and chart topping songs, making him a highly sought-after mixing engineer and producer.

Jamie has mixed and recorded singles and albums for new and legendary artists including Thomas Rhett, Taylor Swift, Dustin Lynch, Jerrod Niemann, Maddie & Tae, Alan Jackson, Rhett Akins, Vince Gill, Justin Moore, Alison Krauss, Tyler Farr, RaeLynn, Little Texas, Drake White, John Prine, Kristian Bush, Miranda Lambert, Marty Stuart, Kip Moore, Jack Ingram, Brooks and Dunn, Sheryl Crow, Dc Talk, Josh Kelley, C**t Ford, Chris LeDoux, Logan Mize, Montgomery Gentry, Mark McGuinn, and more.

Recorded and mixed this song with my friend, producer Jeff Shannon for Crash Robinette and Chris Burris' band Strange Company.

While tracking two songs stood out. This was one of them. I'm so glad they let this track be what it wanted to be instead of taming it down to appease modern ears. This song RAWKS!!!

I really love how this came out. I mixed the s**t out of rock stuff. I need more of that in my life.

Free console. Seriously. Free. Let me know if you want it.
It's yours if you can pick it up before August 1st.

I made over a dozen #1 records on this thing. Taylor Swift, Thomas Rhett, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Michael Bolton, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Marty Stuart, and a whole lot more people I'm forgetting have made music with this thing. I'm moving one of my other consoles to my house to continue mixing and recording and making great music.

96 moving faders. Total recall. API designed. Newly rebuilt power supplies. I loved this board. It was my best friend for 25 years. It would make me so happy to see it go to a new home.

I'll reinstall FB messenger for the next few days in case anyone wants it. HMU!

This is just one box full of demos recorded over the decades at Rukkus Room. There are songs by Ashley Gorley, Josh Kear, Brett James, Emily Shackleton, Mark Irwin, Robert Ellis Oral, Don Schlitz, Marty Stuart … and the list goes on. It’s like a guide to the country songwriters history. What a special place Rukkus Room has been!

Happy 4th. Have Fun! Be Safe!

Lego has a Jaws set coming out next month. I'm already saving my pennies for it. In the meantime, they made a cute video for it. Wish the Spielberg figure came with it. Maybe I'll make my own.

Don't listen to this guy. Buy the $300 guitar. Nobody will think less of you. Learn on it. Love on it. It'll do everything a $5,000 guitar does. But, if you have a $5,000 guitar and still suck, you could've just bought the cheaper version.

It's not about the gear. It's all about the challenge of writing and performing music that effectively conveys a thought or emotion. It's difficult. Try it.

Spotify is going to raise sub prices... and pay artists even LESS(!!!). Is that even mathematically possible? Like trying to divide zero.

“The higher prices will help cover the cost of audiobooks. Plans combining music and audiobooks will mean a lower mechanical royalty rate for songwriters."

Maybe TayTay ca start a streaming service. She may be the only non-evil Billionaire.

Spotify’s music and audiobooks bundle will mean lower royalties for songwriters, but the company claims earnings for creators will continue to rise.

I worked for Pantera's Dad (Jerry Abbott) for 7 years. He bought an old funeral home and had it converted to a recording studio. Low ceilings and small isolation booths, but it was workable.

He hired me to wire Abtrax, a three month job of 12-14 hour days. When I finished my last solder point, he hired me to engineer the first session (because nobody else knew how to use the new console yet). I made the producer, artists, and musicians happy, so he kept calling me back for sessions. I recorded a bunch of hits there that helped make a lot of people a lot of money that. I also won me some awards and whatnot (they give money to songwriters and awards to engineers in lieu of money).

I was booked 18months in advance the entire 7 years I was the engineer.

About six months before Dimebag was killed, Jerry suddenly decided to close the studio (even though we already had sessions booked for the next year and a half). I got the loans for The Rukkus Room the next day. Now we're 20 years after that.

I had some great times at Abtrax (I had some not-so-great-times there, too). Thanks for the gig, Jerry! RIP

To the rock world, Jerry Abbott was known as the father of heavy metal legends "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul Abbott. But before his sons got into music, Jerry Abbott was a country singer, guitar player, and songwriter.
