It shouldnโt be controversial to stand against corporate villains like Live Nation.
As an independent venue, competing with them is nearly impossible but avoiding them is easy. We still get to choose how we do business.
For musicians, itโs a completely different story. Live Nationโs monopoly over live music means most artists are forced to choose between their values and their livelihood. Thatโs not a choice, thatโs coercion.
These days choice feels like an illusion, but we can all take steps to shape the future of live music. Donโt lie down and take it. Say no to private equity and corporate interests swallowing our culture whole!
We are calling on musicians, because some people have more power than others. Power unused is power handed straight to Live Nation. Go back and play the independent venues after youโve blown up. It means more to us than youโll ever mean to them. Show up for the spaces that showed up for you.
