Flashback to 2005… before Instagram and google maps… before or even a van… before drones and amazon…

We lived on the road in our element for 13 consecutive months, exploring all 50 states with just a flip phone and an atlas. I painted a painting in each state while my partner in crime wrote music. People thought we were crazy and irresponsible 20 year old kids to quit our jobs & sell everything we owned just to travel and create. Funny how opinions change. Turns out, we knew all along where we wanted to be… it just took a while for society to catch up with our mindset.

How many people have gone beyond the grand prismatic viewing area to hike to fairy falls? 🙋‍♀️ We’ve been to three times and this was a first… (because with 3 daughters, the name drew us in) and it was an unexpected trek opening up to this beautiful spot. No regrets… it was amazing!

Headed west and will eventually make it all the way to this girl in San Diego… so this right here illustrates how I feel about that! My little sis always fills me with uncontrollable giggles and silliness! This picture was from her visiting us on our Colorado property the year that we were evacuated for a wildfire and took refuge in Taos! Oh, did I mention that with Nique always comes freak, unforeseen natural disasters?! 🤣 I like to think it’s because her spirit is too strong for this world.

While remote natural excursions are generally our thing… we aren’t above stopping at all the crazy American roadside attractions like Metropolis, IL where the Superman Museum exists as well as this bullet proof, literal “man of steel” statue resides.

Side note, our little Fischer met a boy named Fischer in front of the statue. It’s the first time we’ve ever met a kid with her name & spelling so I had to get a picture of them… just in case they ever cross paths again! 😍 @ Metropolis, Illinois

We just came through beautiful Idaho! Jason at Stoddard Farms in Grace gave a private potato tour to our daughters which they loved!! And we learned so much about potato farming! We also learned that his wife created the which is definitely worth checking out! Then in Preston I signed the last ¿Como te Llamas? copy at the adorable shop and found out the owner is currently in Peru 💗🦙💗! So jealous!! How many of you have been there? -
So in the spirit of traversing this amazing landscape, I thought I’d share the Idaho-inspired painting from the Nomadic Project collection. The original sold years ago but giclee prints are available! Head over to Nomadic-Project.com to read the inspiration for the Idaho painting and all 50 states! Hope you all have a great day!!

In honor of the Summer Solstice... visited Robert Irwin’s Dawn to Dusk permanent installation in Mafra, TX... the work is all about light and darkness and the passage of sunlight over the course of the day. It is beautiful to walk through the c-shaped building and the largest of the artist’s work. -
My partner in crime. He is the yin to my yang. 17 yrs ago this summer, he asked if he could kiss me...I said no. Thankfully, I changed my mind. -
