The Dream 7 Board of Directors and Family offers condolences to Crystal Green and her extended family on the loss of her mother, Dianne Dixon.

Local luminary, Dianne Oyama Dixon, started her arts career in dance and acting nearly 40 years ago. From roles in episodes of “Good Times” in the late 70s to appearing in movies, “A Piece of the Action” and “ All Saints’ Eve, ” Ms. Dixon also graced the stage in American Negro Playwright Theater productions and more recently Kennie Playhouse Theater’s “Dance On Widows Row” as the hilarious Simi. She had also started playwriting and entered Dream 7’s "Write What You Know" Program. However, health challenges required that she withdraw.

We thank you, Miss Dianne, for your talent and for breathing life into all those characters you portrayed. Your glorious dances, your smile, hugs, your smoky melodious voice, your love and "hello sweeties". Rest well in peace with the angels. We love you!

Free event this weekend! Dream 7 presents its first theatrical reading of one of their first “Write What You Know” Program participants’ plays entitled BOXES. Emerging Playwright and Senior Citizen, Henry L. Jones, brings you a story of a homeless man named STREET who lives in a giant cardboard box and struggles with alcoholism. He finally experiences his miracle in the end in this dramady about loss, family, and perseverance. Come check it out at the Looby Theater this Saturday or Sunday. See flier for times and address. Greetings, friends! Dream 7's Black History Month show opens this weekend (FEB. 20th). Today we celebrate our 30th year Anniversary (FEB. 15th)! Robert Stone was more than a theater supporter to Dream 7 but an ally. Mr. Stone saw THE FIRST production of our signature piece, Cultural Millennium, in 1997. He regularly attended Dream 7 shows after that. He, our founding executive director, Michael Walker and former executive director, Vida Finley forged a genuine adoration for one another. Robert Stone was an advocate to Dream 7 when no other reviewers cared. Upon the passing of our founding Executive Director emeritus, Michael L. Walker, he phoned Vida Finley personally to offer condolences and prayers. He lamented wanting to have one last conversation with Michael L. about Harlem Renaissance poets. They talked about poetry and writers often. Stone was not a theater gossip but kind.
His wit, humor, charm and stories were inclusive and captivating. And, he wrote nearly 3,000 thought provoking haikus.
Mr. Stone used his talents for good and impacted the growth of Black theater in the Middle Tennessee region with his encouraging review posts on Facebook.
On behalf of the Dream 7 family, the Dream 7 Board of Directors sends its deepest condolences to Robert’s family and close friends. Rest well Robert. Now, you and Michael can have that chat. 🖤💙💙💔💔💔
