This past weekend was truly special! On Sunday, we premiered Seven Minutes Out, a 20-minute short film at NCG Cinemas, just outside Nashville, and it was a full house! 🎬 I’m beyond thrilled and honored to have composed the music for it. Huge thanks to writer/director Kevin Marcus Cook and the entire cast and crew for letting me be a part of this amazing project. Looking forward to the next steps, including film festival submissions and possibly some streaming! Stay tuned! 🎥✨

🎂 Happy Birthday to Gustav Holst (1874–1934) 🎶

Born on September 21, 1874, Holst’s legacy is epic in the world of music. Best known for The Planets, his bold orchestrations and visionary harmonic language reshaped how composers think about orchestral color, rhythm, and atmosphere. His work continues to ripple through generations of musicians, directly inspiring film composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and countless others who have borrowed from Holst’s textures, motifs, and sense of cosmic grandeur. In many ways, Holst laid the groundwork for the sound of modern cinema. The monumental swells, otherworldly harmonies, and sweeping orchestral landscapes that define today’s blockbuster film scores owe a great debt to his imagination.

Happy Birthday, Hans Zimmer! 🎶

Born on September 12th, 1957, today, we celebrate one of cinema’s greatest sonic architects — a composer whose music has reshaped the emotional landscape of film. From the thunderous power of Gladiator and Dune to the cosmic wonder of Interstellar and Inception, your scores have inspired awe, tears, and goosebumps in equal measure. Thank you for showing the world that film music is more than background; it’s storytelling in its most primal form.

Born on July 11, 1977, in Iceland, Anna Þorvaldsdóttir (also known as Anna Thorvaldsdottir) is one of the most visionary and innovative voices in contemporary classical music. Her work evokes vast natural landscapes and deep inner stillness, often blending extended techniques, slow-shifting textures, and a powerful sense of space. Whether through large orchestral works or intimate chamber music, Anna’s sound world is immersive, boldly imaginative, and haunting.
