Jess Peoples Art

Jess Peoples Art I enjoy contemporary impressionistic approaches to local landscapes, wildlife and portraits. We have a spotted coonhound named Moseby.

A practicing painter for over 30 years, I enjoy contemporary impressionistic approaches to local landscapes, wildlife and portraits. Developed through a process of layering emotive brushwork and intentional strokes, my recent paintings transform nature observation into playful aesthetic experiences. Each layer plays a role in showcasing a rhythm of life and also pushes exploration into the connect

ions between nature and humanity. I am inspired by the astonishing beauty and perpetual tenacity of nature to thrive through different seasons. My art suggests us to take a walk in the woods, reflect on our truest selves and celebrate the moments that spark a fire within us. I am currently a local Nashvillian, but am originally from Louisville, Kentucky, and received a BFA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I am a proud momma to two awesome kids and wife to another inventive soul of a different kind. Pricing estimates are listed on my site, but please contact me for specific commission requests, wholesale pricing as well as collaborations.

Just wanted to share a moment of thankfulness. Thank you for being here. For following this journey and cheering along the way. I see you— and whoa, being an artist is such a journey. I am incredibly thankful for all the opportunities, for all the relationships that now exist, for the possibilities I see coming up, for all the nudges and high fives and ideas and collaboration. Sharing some love to you this week— this big dream that has taken on its own rhythm — is what it is because of so many people who also believed it with me. Wishing you an abundance of love, especially this week.

“If you persevere, in time you will have an entirely different problem- not that life is meaningless, but rather that life has too much meaning. As the scales fall from your eyes, the world rushes into focus, presenting itself with a kind of vibrational eloquence that can, at first, be almost overwhelming. Everything shimmers, everything clarifies, everything wrestles for your attention. Trees feel super-real, their roots plunged into the earth, their branches stretching to the sky, birds are flesh and blood souls, fragile with life, the sky unfolds and rolls, the ocean crashes, people fascinate, books are beautiful, children are whirling dynamos of chaos, dogs bark and cats meow, flowers shout, your neighbor glows, and God runs like a helix through all things. The world awaits you, humming with meaning. You are alive with potential. You are not dead.”

MBA art Show - Day 2. Thanks for coming out —love seeing everyone. Shout out to the MBA chairs and volunteers who work so hard to put on this event. It shows. We may have had some storms and a lockdown, but glad to be with this joyful group of artists who wrap ourselves in ‘s homemade Christmas chains and tell each other goofy stories upstairs. Tomorrow is the last day, come by- will be there 10-4p. Many thanks to all the friends and neighbors who have come by already.

A little rainy day joy. In May, I found myself sketching the rain glow that happens here in Tennessee. In the late afternoon, I was sitting inside the Bluebird Hill barn sketching with Ann Larsen, mesmerized by the shimmer the rain had on the bright green grass when looking out. I tend to not like rain or storms, but that afternoon, the glow against the bushes with their tangly vines adding so much contrast and, at the same time, it seemed an invitation to gawk at the beauty I was seeing. Final piece is “Rain Glow” on second photo shown.

Each of the pieces I create has a story. Ask me about it. These and more will be with me next week at .
