My Mother had a pan hat that has a broken handle and dented bottom, but it is the pan that holds sacred childhood memories of her grandmother happily mixing together her world-famous pineapple upside down cake. To this day mom only bakes her pineapple upside down cake in this special pan.
Family traditions and memories are created every day. Through my work in the social service field with children and families, I have seen families struggling with many of life’s hardships. I like having the opportunity to provide a special bowl, pitcher, or turkey platter that becomes a family’s utensil of continuity. It is an important motivation for doing pottery that adds balance to my life. Thinking about a piece of pottery created with my hands, becoming a part of someone else’s daily life by their use of the piece becomes a connection between me and the owner/family of my pot.
The forms I make are strong, generous and invite your touch. The spontaneity, responsiveness and forgiving nature of the clay fires my imagination and allows the childlike spirit to emerge in the creative process influencing my ideas and forms. My pottery can be held comfortably and the weight and balance of the piece. Pottery is made to be used, often. Pottery used to decorate your table, kitchen, or other areas of your home reflect your unique personal taste with that handcrafted pottery. Pottery’s versatility is an added benefit to having it in your house. I primarily make one of kind pieces. I also enjoy replicating utilitarian work such as dinnerware. I hope you will use my pottery and enjoy the memories made with family and friends as I pass it from my hands to yours.

Good morning! Our buddy Caleb Arney brought us his magical creations. If you’ve ever met Caleb you would feel the warmth of his heart and creativity in his mind. He put his ideas to canvas this time and we love them! He often makes highly imaginative creatures or scenes focusing on a single number, recurring element or color. You should check these out, and all of his work. You’ll fall in love.

Gooood morning! We want to introduce and welcome our newest member into the studio, McKenzie Taggart. We’ve known her and her family for several years and can attest to her being an A+ human, mother and artist. She is working in clay in one of our upstairs studios and we’re thrilled that she’s joined us. Take a moment and read her artist bio. You can then find her work at the store, hope to see you this weekend!

I’m a lover of making pottery that brings a cozy beauty to the everyday. I began my creative career nearly 20 years ago as a wedding and family photographer. When I stepped back from photography to spend more time with my four kids, I discovered a deep love for working with clay—and for the simple joy of gathering people around a kitchen table filled with ceramics I had made myself.
I grew up in Colorado, and my work reflects a mix of western motifs and shapes alongside the traditional forms and textures of Appalachia, where I now call home. Most of my pieces are wheel-thrown, and I especially enjoy experimenting with sgraffito and hand-painted glazes.
At its heart, my pottery is made to be used, gathered around, and loved. I hope my pieces bring a little warmth and beauty to your everyday moments, and I look forward to sharing them around your kitchen table.
