Northern Sky Theater performs outdoors under the stars in the summer at Peninsula State Park and indoors at the Gould Theater.
“Original musicals steeped in local history, archetypes and customs” (The New York Times). Northern Sky is a must-see Door County theater experience: original musicals presented beneath stars and towering pines in Peninsula Park Amphitheater, as well as indoors at the intimate, state-of-the-art Gould Theater. No matter the venue, Northern Sky is “as much a Door County tradition as cherry preserves…one of the most exceptional professional troupes in the country” (Chicago Tribune).

Join us at the Gould Theater for Bourgoin Production's touring production of "The Root B**r Lady"

Written by Kim Schultz, "The Root B**r Lady" tells the story of the indomitable Dorothy Molter, the last legal non-indigenous resident of the Boundary Waters. The story reflects the beauty and hardships of Molter’s solitary yet satisfying life beginning in 1934. The play, funny and passionate, explores her independence, fortitude, and love of nature. Molter pushes back against the premise that her time in the North Woods made her the “Loneliest Woman in America,” as the Saturday Evening Post claimed in 1952. Kim Schultz is a nationally and internationally acclaimed writer, actor, and solo show artist working across mediums.

Performances are November 5-7 at the Gould Theater. Hope to see you there!

“We make it a point to spend a night in the area every Fall so we can attend a play/musical at this theater. The performance never ever disappoints. The bonus is the setting of the theater and the theater itself. It all fits together and creates a unique and unforgettable experience. If you enjoy regional theater, this is one to put on your list.”

Starting tomorrow, we’re in our FINAL WEEK of "George & Gracie: A Love Story", with our last performance this Saturday! Come while the leaves are still putting on their show too, and experience everything that makes a night at Northern Sky so special. 🍁
