CBCA has been running Colorado Attorneys for the Arts (CAFTA) for over a decade - the only pro bono legal referral service dedicated to arts, culture and the creative industries in the mountain region. In 2026, we have seen the demand for legal services in the arts increase by 50% over last year. This Pro Bono Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to CAFTA's network and invite more attorneys to get involved. What is an A-Corp? Who is it for? What makes it different? ASMP Colorado and Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) are hosting Attorney Dave Ratner of Creative Law Network and Accountant Josh Schepers of Arkose Advisors on Wednesday, November 4th from 6-8pm to talk all about A-Corps and tell you what you need to know. This presentation will cover forming an A-Corp, the rules and regulations, the dos and don’ts, and the path forward. Join in person at RMCAD or livestreamed online but don’t miss it! Nothing like spending 3 days with your close peers from around the country! CBCA’s Colorado Attorneys for the Arts (CAFTA) is one of two dozen “volunteer lawyers for the arts” programs, and we just gathered in Nashville for the National Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Conference, hosted by our friends at Arts + Business Council. We spent most days at Nashville Songwriters engaging with panels on digital royalties for musicians, media coverage for VLAs, cross-sector partnerships and the ecosystem for independent artists and venues, plus LOTS of peer sharing and learning. We also enjoyed a private Songwriters Round at Country Music Association and a tour of the Soundwaves Gallery at Nashville Soccer Club GEODIS Park, curated by ABC Nashville. But the highlight was supporting one of our own from VLAA performing at an open mic! CBCA was honored to host this NVLA conference last year and to celebrate over a decade of connecting artists to pro bono legal services as part of this community. Shout out to CBCA Board member and CAFTA Advisory Committee Chair Dave Ratner Creative Law Network for joining too!

Artists, makers, musicians, filmmakers, designers, writers, and creative entrepreneurs: Come say hi! CBCA will have a booth at the 2026 Arts Month Creative Business Resource Fair on Monday, October 26, from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at The Garage at Meanwhile Block in downtown Colorado Springs.

Presented by the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, this free, informal open house connects creative professionals with regional organizations offering business development, financial services, marketing, creative spaces, production resources, workforce support, and more.

CBCA will be there to talk about our Colorado Attorneys for the Arts (CAFTA) and Advancing Creatives Intensive (ACI) programs, as well as our advocacy network and opportunities.

Attendees can explore resources at their own pace, ask questions, build professional relationships, and discover practical next steps for their creative work. Complimentary professional headshots will also be available for a limited time.
