Looking for a warm, sincere, and relatable narrator for this amazing one person show. The narrator can be any gender, ages twenty and up, and must be comfortable directly addressing the audience. Audience participation is a large part of this show, and as such light improv skills are desirable (but we can support this in rehearsals). Looking for a performer who can blend humor and emotional depth in a seamless and honest way.
This audition process will look a bit different (just as this is a bit different of a show). Please email me at [email protected] to sign up for an audition slot. Auditions will be held on Sunday, November 29th and Monday, November 30th at Billings Studio Theatre (1500 Rimrock Road). Each performer will be assigned a specific time (plan for a roughly ten-minute audition). I will send two monologues from the show for you to work with (one that has some audience participation). There will be an “audience” for you to address and play to at the auditions, but no other performers will be in the house during your audition. I really want to see what qualities you bring to the role, not have folks watch each other! Virtual auditions will be available only for valid circumstances (would obviously much prefer in person) and would need to be scheduled by November 20th. Please reach out to the above email with any questions.
Deadline to submit for an audition slot – November 20th. The sooner the better, however, as we can start to build our schedule.
*Show runs – January 29, 30, 31, February 4, 5, 6, 7, 2027
Show summary - "Every Brilliant Thing" opens with a mother’s su***de attempt and her seven-year-old’s subsequent search to understand it and help lift her depression by documenting the joys all around them. Starting with the basics, like ice cream and the color yellow, the list is maintained throughout their lifetime and highlights the narrator’s ever-changing view of what is beautiful about the world as they reach adulthood. This beautiful and interactive solo show incorporates audience participation.
